Does reporting spam help?

I dutifully hit "report post" on every spam post that appears. Right now they're popping up like mushrooms.

Does that help anything or am I just creating noise? I'll gladly keep doing it, but not if it just goes into /dev/null because whoever is cleaning them up just looks at the list of new users for example

This current batch of spam is using registered users account, looking at the list of online users there's hundreds from tor-exit anonymisers, so I think someone is trying to hack all accounts, and ones with easy passwords to brute force are getting used.

Not much we can do about it though unfortunately, RCK is the man for that.

As to your post, yes they are very much appreciated and acted upon. Thanks for your continued help and support.

I highly recommend StopForumSpam , this is mainly for the admins/mods here as reporting spammers there require info like their IP and email. If there is some extension of this for this forum, give it a try, I used it mainly on a phpBB forum.

There is some forum spam plugin added, but only RCK has the ability to add or change anything drastic, we only have access to the mod control panel.

Sadly we are sitting ducks until he has the time to visit.

We'll keep removing it, this is my forum life at the moment, at least deleting and banning can be done in one action so small mercies lol

Well, EAB is already using the www.StopForumSpam.com plugin

Moreover, all new user registration are filtered by our awesome Global Moderators.
There is nothing more we can do I'm afraid

ps: www.stopforumspam.com is working well, it's blocking one fake registration every few minuts.

Indeed, but this was about abusing existing accounts which is a loophole. Still, I haven't hit report in weeks now so it seems the mini storm is over for now
