Light pen cursor is now visible in genlock emulation modes, it was always transparent previously

Controls seem to need some extra support before they can work properly. (Usual input/output mode vs pullups/no pullups side-effect)

Joystick Directions and 2nd button lines are used for switches. 3rd button is fire button.

Controls should work now. Input panel remapping is needed, also make sure mouse is not mapped to either port. PC mouse is needed for light gun emulation.

ALG joystick port usage:

Port 1:
- Joy Up = Service mode
- Joy Down = Start
- Joy Left = Left Coin
- Joy Right = Right Coin

Port 2:
- Light Gun
- 3rd button = Trigger
- Joy Up = Holster (Reload)

Not that it helps much, game is totally unplayable without visible targets.. But at least calibration screen works

Toni, would you like this thread moved to the support.WinUAE thread?

You can then change its title if you wish.

I am not sure. Emulation is WinUAE related but creating compatible video file(s) are not really emulator specific.

But moved or not, title probably should be something like "American Laser Games (Mad Dog McCree and others)" or similar.

I was just about to change it but a mod beat me to it

IMO, this thread is very WinUAE specific now so I'd be comfortable having it moved.

I have changed the title of the thread as you suggested, Toni. Let me know if you change your mind about moving it.

BTW, I have an original Mad Dog McCree CDi. My Win7 x64 PC appears to detect it as a blank CD-R when I insert it in my DVD-RW drive.

Do you (or other contributors to this thread) know how the disc's video (or complete) content may be dumped?

Please don't use the DOS ISO's. The quality is inferior compared to the original laserdisc.

The purpose of this is to emulate the arcade hardware. What's the point of using video that is not from the arcade.

You may use Isobuster or maybe UltraISO to dump the game, or at least extract the files to your HD (both are shareware).

I'm having some trouble getting it all to run :S it's giving me RAM checksum errors, and then will restart. What's the expected configuration? (Chipset, RAM, Kickstart, CPU, NTSC or PAL etc)

If it's any use to anyone, Gallagher's Gallery rip, adapted from the youtube video (hopefully this will line up correctly, it might be a frame or two out)

Because that is not only the sole purpose, other people are trying to get this to work on real Amiga hardware, so already converted video is needed.

It depends on game and game version. Some games complain about RAM (nvram, which is not saved anywhere yet. I need to know the actual size of the chip. It is not mentioned in MAME sources.), then set defaults, reset, some complain, set defaults and continue. Just let it reset once.

It is normal 68000 A500. NTSC is quite obvious
KS 1.3. Some games require ECS Agnus (corrupted sprite without it), possibly all are ECS or only later ones. Probably no trapdoor RAM.

just tested the video with winuae - i get blue background - that says there is an error (codec or whatever).
i guess it is "whatever" since mediainfo says 125 hours playtime. can anyone confirm or is it normal thing?
it does play with my MediaPlayerClassic - says 125h playtime too, cannot skip forw/bck, but it plays.
I cannot exclude a codec issue here.

#1) after using "fast play" in MPC it seems the video resets after 27 mins playtime (jumps to 00:00 playtime).
Code:
$ ffprobe.exe -i gg-ld.avi
ffprobe version N-81972-g8063978 Copyright (c) 2007-2016 the FFmpeg developers

Input #0, avi, from 'gg-ld.avi':
  Duration: 125:49:09.52, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 1 kb/s
    Stream #0:0: Video: h264 (High) (H264 / 0x34363248), yuv420p, 480x360 [SAR 1:1 DAR 4:3], 360 kb/s, 29.97 fps, 29.97 tbr, 29.97 tbn, 59.94 tbc
    Stream #0:1: Audio: aac (LC) ([255][0][0][0] / 0x00FF), 44100 Hz, stereo, fltp, 128 kb/s
#2) (maybe) solution: just need to find exact end, here i was using 28 mins
Code:
ffmpeg.exe -ss 00:00:00.000 -i gg-ld.avi -t 00:28:00.000 -c copy gg-ld-cut.avi
#2a) i'm again writing tons of stuff, well, if you have problems with earok's video, just download the one from youtube.
you may want to cut out some seconds, you can use ffmpeg as seen under #2)
next convert it to an avi: ffmpeg -i GallaghersGallery-Youtube.mp4 GallaghersGallery.avi
[ Show youtube player ]

#3) and i cannot make any game running, some system messages then reboot,
GG says something about missing laseredisk connection. *latest winuae.7z - just reporting*

You forgot to mention _exact_ game version. Each variant works differently, some have minor, some have very big differences!

Video needs to be seekable to work. Playback uses mostly obsolete directshow method. You may need different codec than Media Player and others use. Test with genlock video file method.

--

Updates:
- Added ALG specific input events to input list. 2-player versions use button pin multiplexing, basic button event mapping can't work.
- Added some more LD commands, more service mode hardware tests pass.

i was testing Gallaghers Gallery v2.1 with a500 ks1.3 ECS agnus 1MB chip NTSC
added all the ALG buttons (Winuae Config -> Input) to my gamepad.
video is now working in lasedisk mode after converting the youtube mp4 video to avi (using ffmpeg).
still no sign of gameplay, still experimenting

#1) can you name one working game version?

What were the FFMPEG commands you used to convert it? I'll do the same operation here, and then reupload.

no special options just this (filenames choosen for illustration):
ffmpeg -i GallaghersGallery-Youtube.mp4 GallaghersGallery.avi
result was ok and accepted by winuae's laserdisk genlock mode.

#1) filesize decreases from 80mb (mp4) -> 60mb (avi) --> video quality is bad, i have to say.
but try on your own. source was the 360p video from youtube.

Thanks @Emufan

I've reuploaded the Gallagher's Gallery video as an AVI that's now confirmed to work in WinUAE. Also, the quality is about the same as before, though the file size has bloated out to around 250 MB :S

yep, this one does work and quality is ok - i think you should remove your first video link

does the game work for you? i'm stuck in that reset loop :/
can you move the little green circle object, which appears right after reboot, in the left top corner?

Green object is not going to move anywhere. You need to enable lightpen emulation. I tried Gallager's Gallery v2.2 and it works fine with normal compatible A500 config.

Quick config help:

Set gameports panel mouse = none.
Input panel configuration #1, click remap, press mouse left button. Map it to "American Laser Games Right Trigger"
Map mouse X and Y axis Lightpen Horizontal and Lightpen Vertical.

Lightpen is enabled if you see small yellow crosshair which moves with mouse.

Then map remaining important events to keys or whatever.

American Laser Games Service: service mode.
American Laser Games Right Start: start game (player 1)
American Laser Games Right Coin: insert coin (player 1)
