LHA32 long names

Hi guys,
this is a kind of toughie question(s). I am using LHA32 to zip up file and directory structures on my PC (winxp SP2) to send to my Amiga 1200 via the paradise parallel cable (which gives me 54KB/s - but only booting from a 6.21 dos disk). The problem is that some of the file names are greater than 8.3 and dos does not support >8.3.

K, heres the tricky part.. when i use LHA32.exe in a Win XP command prompt to zip up files and directories that contain long filenames it works ok. I use Total commander on the PC pretty well exclusively for all my zipping, viewing etc and i cannot get the damn thing to create lzh files without either truncating the long names or omitting them completely (i've also tried their forum too).

- Is there a packer that will work on both PC and Amiga that is compatible with each other, and where can it be obtained
- Does anyone have Total Commander working with LHA for long names

and lastly

- Has anyone got the Paradise parallel cable software working within Win XP SP2. (i know some laptops are very picky with their parallel ports at times). I have tried ECP, EPP, bi-Dir, Normal and the other mode. I've tried changing settings within Device manager and Dos Pifs and still no go.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

nothing I've unpacked with TotalCommander has been truncated..... though as Bippy sugests, use WinUAE to LHA your files, not the winversion

Windows NT (and 2k and XP) use a protected virtual parallel port. DOS and Win9x apps that low level access the parallel port dont work ever.

Saying that:
