Those iconic (NewTek) Amiga pictures and their origins
I was looking at some of those old colorful commercial Amiga slideshows (NewTek and the likes) that used be often seen running in various Amiga shops, and no doubt played a big part in giving Amiga that huge wow factor over everything else computer on display.
So, I was wondering if the original images would still be retraceable, and managed to find sources for a few of them. -- Sanka coffee can splashing on the water seems to be scanned from this magazine advertisement that ran 1986-1987: ![]() ![]() Groucho Marx image is scanned from this press image from "At the Circus (1939)", colored and the mesa added in the background: ![]() ![]() Last edited by jizmo; 23 May 2017 at 20:30. |

The space station HAM image is 'The Ship That Sang', a sci-fi art piece by Angus McKie (detail, full image viewable here):

![]() ![]() Couldn't identify this one with the simple 3D shapes (yet) - it's seen here rescanned and printed to a 1993 rave flyer so it must be from some fairly known magazine cover or a book from the 80's. UPDATE 04-2016: Found the full sized hires version some time ago, still no actual info of its origin Last edited by jizmo; 23 May 2017 at 20:37. |

Does anyone know anyone who worked at NewTek at the time? I'm sure if they could be located again, they'd have some valuable insight on all these mystery images. |

I wouln't be surprised if this picture was taken from the "Terran Trade Authority" illustrated science fiction books.

I was blown away of these three scans
![]() ![]() ![]() They were contained in some slideshows and Amiga disk mags. 20 years later I discovered the last one is young Linda Hamilton. I still do not know the first two, though. |

This image was created by a company called Information International Inc, and is titled "Sphere, Cone and Cube on a Textured Floor". The date the image was made is uncertain, but certainly pre-1984, possibly mid to late 70s. D. |
