I just uploaded CT RAW files of Burst Nibbler V1.1 and Smart Copy v1.1 into The Zone as they are still copy protected!

Smart Copy came as an additional disk with Burst Nibbler!

I always thought Burst Nibbler was pretty solid better than X-Copy or D-copy etc

StingRay has now cracked both Burst Nibbler / Smart Copy and uploaded ADF's to The Zone!

It would be nice to find the TACH 25 hardware for Burst Nibbler and test that out! It looked like it plugged into the serial port as well as the floppy port!

I think Burst Nibbler was built into AR!

Here's a pic of the Hardware taken from a Datel Ad in Amiga Plus Vol2 No4!

Correct. You type "burst" and it'll load it.

The version on the Action Replay MKIII cart I tried is 2.170889.

I wonder what the difference is between the v1.1 version and the one in AR? I've seen some v2 releases and assumed them fake, but probably ripped from AR?

I guess back in 1990 R&D, manufacturing and marketing costs still had to be clawed back!

I know I said it was solid compared to X-Copy etc but software only it can't of been much better/different and at that price for the software only version seems crazy.

I first had it with a Action Replay they were great and how much were they?
plus good old AR you could actually Dump Burst Nibbler to a disk for your friends.

Unlike the disk version, Burst Nibbler wouldn't copy it's own disk!

A while ago a thought came into my mind. As almost everything back then was cracked, did we really need to use all those 'elite copiers' or would a simple DOS diskcopy have done the trick aswell? Because now we have everything in 880k .ADF format and they work just great and afaik it's just as simple image as a diskcopy would've produced.

Most were sold with the intention of making a safety backup of the games you already owned!

Today, we also have IPF images which contain the disk format/protection of the original, many people would rather have a copy of an original disk than a cracked copy!

I didn't really see the point in copiers like X-Copy they couldn't really copy anything but cracked games and you could just use diskcopy or something simple.

The hardware copiers were a different story.
