Redefine joystick keys?
Is it possible to redefine which keys I use for joystick control?
Personally, I find the cursor keys unplayable for most games and it stops me using FS-UAE without a joystick. As a Spectrum guy, I would like to use the classic QAOP Space, or the Interface II keys 67890 (sounds weird but I love it). A BBC owner might opt for ZX*? and Return. The crucial benefit of all these is that they use different hands for up/down and left/right so quick manoeuvres become easy. I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds doing any kind of diagonals on the cursor keys really, really hard! If FS-UAE can't do this, could this be a feature request for a config file setting? Good question as I was wondering the same thing myself recently. I went through the settings and didn't see anything, but perhaps it is something that can be done in the Advance area?

Yes it's do-able. See https://fs-uae.net/docs/keyboard-joystick-emulation
You need to edit/create the file keyboard.conf in path FS-UAE/DATA/DEVS/KEYBOARDS/ Then choose your keyboard as the joystick in the Launcher. |
