Does anyone still have these?
I'm not really trying to find the rom images but rather a demo I once had that was made for one such release (it had a scrolltext that was full screen height). I am guessing the demo would trackload the image when you pressed lmb or something because there was no exit from it AFAIR. |

I haven't found the demo, but I have found a youtube video with the music in it!
And with a little google-fu it turns out that I was looking for mod.nightfall. And the demo using it probably http://janeway.exotica.org.uk/release.php?id=1733 (I haven't actually tried it). Last edited by NorthWay; 12 June 2016 at 05:41. Reason: I found the answer |

I remember there was a resident installer that did some kickstart mods or maybe replaced the kickstart. Don't remember what it was, but the end result was nice.
Same floppy disk hand, but in red theme, a scrolling message, some nice tune playing, and yes, a virus protector and some other utils could be called with F keys. |

LINK DELETED. Sorry I forget it's still copyright. I thought because it was Heavily hacked and modified it wouldn't apply.

Thanks to all who have contributed (you know who you are).
Getting to know life on an A1000 has been interesting. |

Finally got around to hacking the HQC and Level 42 Kickstart disks for NTSC. Though it boots and works now (Would open a 640x256 screen and fail on NTSC), it seems to do a hard reset when CTRL A A is pressed!
Anyone know how I can patch it correctly? All I did was change 256 to 200 for the CLI on boot. I used WinHex EDIT: Fixed with the tool SumKick! if anyone wants all these send me a PM! Last edited by TjLaZer; 07 November 2018 at 08:15. |

Has anyone with these images thought about the possibility of generating patches against the original ROMs/disks they were modified from, and distributing those? If the patching tool is chosen well, there should be zero distribution of any actual Commodore ROM data, only patches.

Distributing patches should be OK. On Unix the command
> bsdiff KickV1.3_34.005.rom KickV1.3_boot1.rom /tmp/boot1.patch saves a binary patch to get from the first to the second file. > bspatch KickV1.3_34.005.rom /tmp/patched.rom /tmp/boot1.patch recovers the file KickV1.3_boot1.rom from KickV1.3_34.005.rom and the patch. Since the patch should at best include small fragments of kickstart code, this should be legal. There are full disassemblies of Exec 33.192 (Kick1.2) online, seemingly without problems. |
