AmigaKit A600 mem expansion; major problem
I can't get the dang trap door back on. Anyone else have this problem? No way is this
door going back on, because the board sets flush w/ the bottom of the case. I wonder if they used the wrong connector? The expansion card works ok...i see my 1 meg of extra mem on title bar. |

I can't understand why anyone is ordering from Amigakit. Once you place an order it takes 1-3 weeks until it's shipped. When it arrives (6 weeks later) everything is a little bit off. No love is put into their products. I'm placing 99% of my orders with Amiga Store, Centuriontech, Retrohaxx, Vesalia etc.

Mart1n your experience sounds frustrating, thanks for sharing.
You should be careful not to assume that everyone else has the same experience. Amigakit have been providing great gear and service for years. They are a small business with very limited manpower, yet have many thousands of satisfied customers. As is always the case routine orders never get discussed on Internet forums. We only hear from the unhappy minority, which paints unfair pictures of hard working businesses. Last edited by DDNI; 04 April 2021 at 11:17. |

The last thing I ordered from Amigakit (CDTV IR controller) arrived 2 days after I ordered.
I've got three A601's (various manufacturers) including the Marpet one which takes SIMMs and they all allow the trap door to close. If it doesn't fit, complain, if they have no explanation then return it and get a different one from somewhere else. |

The problem with a lot of these A600 memory expansions is that the edge connector is mounted above the circuit board instead of it being mounted underneath. Because the connector is above the board, the board sits lower than it should and so the door won't close. All the soldered component legs hit the door. If you try to close the door you just end up bending the motherboard upwards. It's just a dumb design.
