Hand held WINUAE
I have just tried to use a modified SONY VGN_UX380N but it was too heavy to use as a hand held all up its weight was about 1Kg but it worked grate with WINUAE
Can anybody suggest a good hand held for Amiga emulation that can use WHDL |

I was told that Amiga does not work to good on a Pandora that why I never went that way and the Pandora that I had required repairs, does it run GBA and SNES as good?

Pandora is the most powerful handheld currently, so i imagine it does.

The new PSP Vita will absolutely rock (I saw the specs and it's a monster... 2 GHz CPU and 800 MHz GPU)... but I don't know if there will be custom firmwares for it and if it will be relatively easy to program (emulators, homebrew, etc.). Furthermore, it uses a proprietary format for memory cards.

3DS isn't very powerful, 128MB of RAM, unsure on CPU, but probably around the 500MHZ mark.
Pandora has 256mb of RAM, a 600MHZ processor and a 430MHZ processor. (Around the power of an Ipad 1st gen, but obviously a Pandora is built purely for homebrew, so it'll perform better.) And let's be honest, the Vita probably won't be that powerful when it actually releases. Sony already said the RAM and VRAM has been cut in half due to production costs. So it's due to have 256mb of RAM. And the VITA has a 200MHZ GPU, not 800MHZ. CPU hasn't been announced yet, but the actual CPU they're using can run from between 800MHZ to 2000MHZ (2GHZ) so it could be anywhere in that range. The 3DS's GPU can run from 200MHZ-400MHZ, so in clock speed it's actually faster than the PS Vita's GPU, but in general it performs much less, as we all know Nintendo don't do graphics. :P The Pandora and PS Vita actually run on similar technology, both on PowerVR SGX's, but the Pandora runs SGX530, and the VITA SGX543. Pandora does 110MHZ, Vita does 200MHZ. Looking at it, if the 3DS's GPU is clocked to it's max, it can generate pixels 3x faster than the Pandora. The Vita can make 4,000 Mpixels at max, the 3DS can make 1,600 Mpixels at max. So GPU wise the 3DS is better than the Pandora, but CPU and RAM wise, it probably isn't, hard to tell as Pandora uses DDR RAM, whereas 3DS uses FCRAM, which i am not familiar with. But that's performance in general, usually when people put homebrew on their consoles, it doesn't have full access to all the power, the VITA for instance has 1 core locked, so games can only make use of 3 of the 4 cores, as will homebrew if it arrives on the VITA. No doubt the 3DS has similar restrictions, whereas the Pandora won't. Last edited by Dreedo; 25 July 2011 at 14:29. |
