CF IDE is not recognized on reboot

I have put a CF HD in my A1200,I have installed the ClassicWB and works but
when I reboot my A1200 the kickstart screen appears,so the CF HD is only recognized when you turn on the A1200.

This problem occurs with a 4GB CF,this one.I have three partitions and FFS filesystem:

DH0->100mb
DH1->1900mb
DH2->1900mb

I have another CF(Kingston trademark) that works when you restart but only has 500mb.

Is the trademark because it does not work? or have I partitioned wrong?

Thanks in advance!

PD:to get the bootblock in DH0 I installed the WB in DH0 and erased it,after I installed ClassicWB

you should use SFS instead of FFS. and you don't say which OS you use.

I had to go down to 999MB partitions in order for them to work in ffs. This was on an A500 kick 2.0 tho, if there is a difference.

Using FFS, all of your partitions must be under 1gb each (no more than 4gb in total too)...I think this may be what is causing the problem.

using ffs, your partions have to be just inside 2gig, and all of your partions must be within 4gig of your hd.
you need to alter/reduce the size of your 2 larger partions

Make sure you have the correct setting in the MAX TRANSFER for IDE drives.

I have previously bought two of those unbranded cards that you are using.

That's where your problem probably lies.

They are temperamental and should be replaced with a known working brand.

If anyone in the UK wants them FOC - PM me.

Send a message via ICQ to Chain
I have exactly same partitions
DH0->100mb
DH1->1900mb
DH2->1900mb
but with sandisk ultra II, works damn fine, so it will be really incompatible card imo

edit: this guy has same problem http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=486341&postcount=35

I also bought 2 of these cards not so long ago, one works fine and one doesnt, better off going the reccomended brand route i think.

I've gone back to hard disk drives.

I don't like the write speed on them, they are awful slow when writing big files...i'm going the scsi route in my 1200T and A4000

You mean SCSI _harddisk_ I guess?

Cos I'm using my above mentioned CF card on a SCSI to IDE adapter... so you can choose HDD, CF, or SSD drives on either IDE or SCSI. Although it can be tricky to find drives/adapter for SATA, most drives are SATA now.

OMG!,I have the same problem with the new CFthere is no doubt that the fault lies in the fact that I have installed the CF from WinUAE,I have committed a fault but what?

I hate to say it, but IMHO your best bet would be a Sandisk Ultra II 2 GB or 4GB CF card.

THGill had the same problems with a Kingston card (see http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=41637), and when he got a Sandisk Ultra II his problems disappeared.

I bought the accelerator from THGill, and I'm using a Sandisk ultra II 2 GB with no problems.

Edit: I prepped the card under Winuae, and it works perfectly.
