A500+ Colour / Yellowing?
Hi,
Can anyone tell me if this is the correct plastic colour for an A500+? To me it looks like its not yellowed, but does not perfectly match the case badge (not sure if its meant to?) I know about checking the inside plastic to compare to the outside plastic, but still unsure! Thanks Last edited by craggus2000; 20 July 2017 at 12:17. I picked 'er up for £10 at a bootsale, and here's her innards for anyone who likes that sort of thing....
After a few upgrades of course (1.3/2.05 Kickstart switcher, CFIDE68k with 4GB CF, and a 1mb trapdoor upgrade) What do you think? Last edited by craggus2000; 20 July 2017 at 12:17. Reason: Actually learnt how to link pictures from photobucket... |

Looks very crispy. The colour seems to be very well preserved.

Nice, did you put the IDE interface in, or did it come like that?
Also is that a barrell battery I see ominously lurking under your KS ROM switch? |

Nope, I replaced the barrel battery with a ML2032 (This one). I was lucky as the barrel battery that I took out seemed in perfect condition, no leakage whatsoever.Will post a close-up of the battery when I get home... |

Can you please link the images as regular Imageshack instead mobile version? It's hard to see something on so tiny pictures.

Where you read Imageshack, read Photobucket...
The image (at least for me) shows as a tiny 240x157 pixels one. |

If you click on the thumbnail above (like craggus2000 said) it takes you to photobucket where you can see a 692x519 version.

What I meant is the photobucket picture is 240x157 (like the mobile phone version). Not a picture with enough size, FFS!

@craggus
unfortunately your pics are quite small (even going over to photofcukit and max-zooming) - I would say that you dont have any butadine deprotination (yellowing) going on - and is a good example of an A500+ (especially the keyboard) however - the shots are quite small - for more in-depth scrutiny you need atleast 1200x800 |

I think that if you're doubting you should apply a retrobright treatment. You could upload a photo with the highest resolution but we can't be sure as it depends on the light, the camera.... You don't loose nothing with it. I was thinking my A1200 was white till I retrobrighted the other... Here in the Canary Islands we have so much sun that it's a couple of hours time to get it really white, and I make a 1 minute retrobright mixture.

@craggus
As I (and others) suspected this is an excellent example of an A500+ I cannot see any bromine de-protination (yellowing) on the chassis or the keys - if anything just give it a good clean - perhaps with an alcohol wipe and just leave it be =D and as Matt020 points out...... ditch the 2.0 and plumb for a 3.1 =) |
