SCSI2SD and the amiga ?
I came across these http://www.codesrc.com/mediawiki/ind...?title=SCSI2SD while trying to get on mechware www.a4000t.com (as I was thinking of a scsi card reader for a A2000).
Has anyone used these or know if they would work on an amiga ? or if there is anyone of this side of the world making them as it appears to be an open source project. |

I do plan on getting a couple of these.
From what I have heard the developer is going to make another batch of these (My A2000 / CDTV and A500+A570 need them ) =D |

Looks pretty sweet, might have to grab one of these for my A1200 and stick my SCSI Card reader in my A4000

This seems to be something entirely different from a simple card reader, it emulates an hard drive, and that might explain why it is so slow.
It's also non-hotswappable from what I can understand of it, and pretty much everyone expects a card reader to be indeed hot swappable Not exactly a good card reader replacement, then |

I wasn't really wanting to use it as a card reader, more of a swappable hard drive (but not hot swap). And with the mechware site closed down it seemed an interesting idea.
I'm not sure how the speed would compare to a base lvl scsi hard drive say in a A2000 2091 or an A590 on the 500 but I like the idea of having different hard drives setup ready to go |

I realize this is a old thread but I've searched for other scsi2hd ones and there doesn't seem to be much written after this so bumping a little.
Did any of you buy one of these and give it a whirl? I ask because I've just ordered one for my 2000, I have a gvp scsi card and a second card with ide and a cf adapter in it when the cf adaptor turns up, but the ide interface card is a non autobooting one, so I will have to boot from a floppy to use it without the scsi drive. I understand this will be slower but I can use it to boostrap the ide if I find I need the extra performance and put a floppy back in and the gotek Im also waiting on turning up in my A500 instead. As long as it works! I have a scsi->lvd drive adaptor and a few drives to choose from already but the singing from hard disks gets on my nerves now I have been spoilt by ssd's in my other machines. |

I ordered one of these and put it in my 3000. It pulls about 1.5MB/sec in SysInfo. However, the system feels every bit as snappy or snappier than the old rotational drive. The reality is that sequential transfers will be slower, but random access is going to be a lot fast since the SD card has effectively no seek time like a mech. HD does.

Thanks cowdog, now impatiently waiting on it clearing import customs to stop prodding the strange board and wondering if I'm buying parts for building a weapon of some sort

I got it for my A500/A590-combo. No Turbo, just 1MB Chip and 2 MB FastRAM, Kick 1.3. I didn't benchmark it, but it certainly feels faster than the old scsi-drive.
...and then there was silence............................ |
