Better gamepad detection
My gamepad is always detected as Joy2, but Joy1 is what WinUAE defaults to, so everytime I start with a fresh config, I have to remap it all to Joy2 otherwise nothing works.
Can something be done about this? maybe just a button to switch the default Joy1 mappings to Joy2? Thanks. |

Where the problem? Use the "Swap 1<>2 button".

Do you have multiple joysticks/pads? First pad should default to port 2, second to port 1, third to 2 etc..

Compatibility mode starts with "Joy2" by default (one pad connected). A custom "Configuration #1" with "Joy1". It was never different iirc.

It's a driver issue (I think). I always had both gamepads defaulting like yours. Recently, I found out about a non-official driver for my Audigy 2ZS and the two MS Sidewinders would default back to respectively Joy1 & Joy2. Consecutively, I had to reconfigure.
The Sidewinder are plugged on the Audigy joystick port, previously I used a hack from the author of these unoff. drivers 'cause Creative removed joystick support from their Vista web drivers. I suppose if you're using USB gamepads, there is no need for such workarounds... Oh, and I think the Swap 1<>2 button doesn't always work as intended. |

Save a 'default.uae' config then. You can even do that for host only, if you use the quickstart configs.

Sorry, I totally forgot to reply. Finally I've found the source of the problem; apparently my gamepad's cord is damaged, so it would reset the gamepad settings depending on how you held it (even a lil light on the front would blink, but I never paid attention to this) making the swap button only useful for a few seconds. Thank you all for your responses, though
