Try to get: The Amiga Developer CD 2.1

You will get much the info you need to start and StormC 3.

It may not the the best IDE but its really easy to use (got a nice GUI)

Also the "Rom Kernal Manuals" (printed) would be a
helpfull reading.

Yeah, having a printed version of the RKRM, is awesome.

Got my self a copy of StormC and the Amiga Developer 2.1 CD second hand too, they are quite useful.

Now I just need some more spare time

to be more accurate, ive tried to install for example hisoft c++ 4.0(it asked for some locale volume, but that was no one of 7 disk of hcpp i had), aztecC(something like install is not executable.. but the shell doesnt recognized the execute command, thats weird a bit) and also SASC(error at installation, something with makedir(it couldnt create directory) and DOS error type-couldnt locate a file or a drawer).. so maybe the problem is not about finding but installing the compiler

i wont even talk about gcc..

If you want an ancient compiler, I'd suggest Dice C.

If you prefer a modern one, use VBCC as suggested above.

Both are absolutely free, there is no "more free" one.

Get them from Aminet.

Developer files can be used from http://www.haage-partner.de/download/AmigaOS/NDK39.lha
Don't forget to unpack this *before* you install VBCC, it asks for it during installation.

(i tried to unpack vbcc and NDK, then run install file from WB and the message "Unable to open your tool 'Installer' " came on my screen)

i find it interesting, that there was not such problem with SASC install icon... ive copied installer from aminet(there were about 20 so hope it was the right one) and nothing changed.
