Chipram speed is basically the speed limit for AGA stuff, so big improvements in chip ram speed means big improvements in what it can do, especially with stuff like fblit.

yes. ofcourse. but double chipmemspeed doesn't automatically mean double "fps" there are a limit on how fast it can get.
sadly with 060 <-> 030 conversion like a 060 requires. there is a penalty of speed :-( |

What do other accelerators for A1200 like the Blizzard 1260 achieve? I can't remember from when I had a 1200.
Isn't the maximum something like 7mb/s for write when done optimally? |

Yup you can max out at about 7 on writes if you have a small writeback buffer in the glue logic. It only needs to be 8 bytes. Just enough to store one 4-byte write while the previous one is still writing. |

can. open. worm everwhere.
I don't think they are for sale to the general public just now, or at least, i don't think anyone is making them, i am sure more learned gentlemen will prove me wrong. And anyway, you would need to supply your own 060, preferably a Rev6, which, now cost the same as a cheap used car. I have one. it's excellent |

This was at 62.5Mhz
Chip speed performance and reporting the correct clock speed might be the next firmware update I think. Very cool though, this update made a huge difference. I get 5.5MB/s on the EHIDE interface, vs 1.9MB on the onboard IDE. |

I'm looking forward to seeing what the firmware update improves whenever it is released (in no hurry since I'm having fun with the card right now), but not looking forward to getting it updated.

I believe Steven said Firmware would be released (as in open release not this particular update) when a set number of cards has been sold. And I believe a little while ago Chucky said he was at half way.
This would enable the easier Raspberry Pi update method if we have the JED files ourselves. I really don't want my CPU to leave my sight. If it gets lost in the post it's not like you can easily grab another Rev 6 060! |
