Barbarian (Psygnosis)
Does anyone know where I can get this game, adf format would be best for me!
I used to own it back when it was current. The iconic control system that received much criticism was in my view, actually quite good. I could not, however, get past the knight who seemed invulnerable to both sword and arrow. |

I've put a version of Barbarian (Psygnosis) in the Zone (see the buttons at the top of this webpage).
There have always been problems in running this game under emulation, though! |

I tried all the methods listed. I am still having no luck. What do you suggest?

Thanks very much. I have retrieved the game from the zone, and indeed have discovered that the game does not want to work in Winuae. Is this a problem I can overcome within winuae or do i need to get a different emulator.
As it stands it gets to the second title screen and then immediately does nothing at all! |

Check out Walker's BTTR Aid
Out resident Swedish elk-lover Walker has managed to run this game with a "WinUAE 0.8.22 R2 and an OCS13 config with 1 MB chip mem". It should work in WinUAE... |

Forgive my ignorance but what is an OCS13 config?

I think it's just a configuration for a standard Kickstart 1.3 ROM Amiga using the OCS graphics chipset.
I'll ask Walker to reply to this and give some more info... |

Thanks very much for your help so far. I'm new to this lark. There is great satisfaction in playing all my forgotten teenage games again. I can now boast that it has taken me thirteen years to solve some computer adventures!

My emulator is .8.8 version. I will try and get .8.22 and see if that helps. Thanks again for all your help and the swift nature of your responses.

Welcome to EAB davidluke!
The WinUAE version is very important, the game will NOT work with older versions. The config I used is OCS chipset, 1 MB chip mem only, external drives disabled, Slow but more compatible CPU. In case you don't get it to work, here's my config (you have to change the path to your Kickstart file etc). |
