SWOS - files read from and saved to HD!?

To whom it may concern!

I am admin of www.sensiblesoccer.de and we are playing Amiga SWOS online since a couple of years now.
We're using the following package:
http://swos.ring23.com/stat/cgi-bin/...migaonline.exe

Now, we are planning to release a new version (without HDF file, only directories), with polished graphics and some tweaks for custom teams, being updated over a server at any game start etc...
But we need help concerning custom tactics. In SWOS you can edit your own personal tactic, but it is only saved to and read from DF0!

I'd need someone who makes it being read from and saved to HD (directory).
Maybe it just requires a change to the AmigaDOS calls.
But I am not sure.
Is there anybody here who could help us? We'd pay if requested.

Best regards,

Playaveli

Have you tried to use your custom changes with the WHDLoad install? Not compatible with Kaillera?

If I were you I would try to make necessary changes on the disk version (ADFs under WinUAE) and then copy the files from ADFs to appropriate directories on HD.

Thanks guys!

But this is not the problem! We can edit teams and also some graphics. All working fine.

But in SWOS you can edit tactics and save them. But unfortunately the game insists to save them on a floppy instead on HD.

How can we modify SWOS to let it save also edited tactics on HD?

*edit*

About whdload I am not sure yet. I'll ask my partner and let you know! Thanks a lot.

Like Retro-Nerd suggested, I would also go for WHDLoad. It redirects any savings to HD.

Hmm, how about legal issues? We would release it as a free download.

Isn't whdload copyright protected?

No, it's shareware.

EDIT: Or rather, it IS copyright protected, but you're allowed to distribute it. That's obvious but I thought I'd better make that clear

As well as SWOS.

If you are allowed to release SWOS as free download, then you can make the archive with already installed game (using WHDLoad) without WHDLoad itself inside. There is no need to put WHDLoad into the archive because most of the people who are using WHDLoad already has it in the system.

One thing you need to know. WHDLoad install applies only to really original, non-modified SWOS games. Even if you have original and you modify any part of the game (I don't think here of saves but updated teams, changed graphics), you probably will not run the game or you won't be able to complete the season and start the new one (in career mode). In your case, WHDLoad only will be suitable to workaround the stupid assign to DF0: that the game has. It lets you do some alterations which then you can easily import into ADFs or whatever, wherever you want.

Just to point out that I tried the WHDLoad slave with the updated 04-05 version of SWOS, and as the actual excecutable was modified it didn't work. However if you only changed the graphics and the teams then I would imagine it would work in that case.

Yes, it would but you can not finish the season. You still can play single matches, tournaments, even the whole season. But you cannot pass the season and start the new one.

Thanks for all your help! Much appreciated.

Don't worry about career mode. We don't need that for online gaming anyway...

I have one more request. Could anybody provide me a downloadable SWOS 96/97 with whdload? HDF or directory?
I'd like to try it out in online mode (kaillera).
