Interesting, thanks. Only Amiga Power mentioned that there are differences between the two versions... one sentence that didn't actually explain what they are.

I don't think they were removed from the earlier release. I get the impression that the pack-in version was rushed through to meet Commodore's deadline and then certain extras were later added to the subsequent retail release when the schedule wasn't so tight. It appears that the magazines covering this based all their comments on their initial views upon reviewing the pack-in version so any tweaks were missed. Bit of a lost opportunity there – if the publisher had spelt out any changes, journalists might have put more effort into re-evaluating the game.

I seem to recall Anthony Crowther saying something along these lines a few years back, but can't remember if it was to me personally for my review/interview or I read it somewhere else. He might have been a bit hazy on the subject himself, which would explain why I haven't retained anything concrete.

That's the one, although I see now it doesn't help very much. Quite a few other people were responsible for developing the game, so maybe Antony had no involvement with the changes. Hmm...

So, does this version work with WHDload? Or is there an adf version of it? Thanks
