The last version for the Amiga was 5.5 I think. It got slated in one of the Amiga Format magazines. I think because it was way too expensive.
Or was it Lightwave 4? No I'm pretty sure it was 5.5. Version 3.5 was a nice solid version with good speed. I think that got 98% or something like that. I'd go for that version if I were you. |

Last Lightwave 3D Amiga version was 5.7, it was free update from 5.5. The fastest version is 3.5, it was the last ONLY amiga platform version. Versions 4 and 5 were made for a number of other platforms, including Amiga, so they used a generic ANSI C compiler, that did not optimize code as good as the older one.
But of course v4 and 5 got more features! Tomorrow i will dig into my CDs. I remember i have 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 Wait a bit and i will upload them to the zone |

I uploaded version 3.5 of Lightwave to the zone. If you want speed and compatibility with other object formats, you should use this version!
There is/was a good site about Amiga lightwave at: http://www.intuitionbase.com/waveguide/home.html Have fun! and good luck with your game! |

Nice one.
Thanks for the link gulliver. I think I'll have a bit of a play with Lightwave today using those tutorials. Last time I used it I only ever did basic stuff like making boxes and setting up the camera and lights. @webhead Can you tell us a little bit about your game project you're working on? I take it the project is for Windows. I wrote a Lightwave object loader in C++ last year specifically for the Amiga version. It took weeks to write. Was a complete pain in the arse cos the Amiga version of Lightwave doesn't generate texture coordinates so I had to generate them manually. The later PC versions include texture coordinates. |

Meh. I have a copy of TOSEC Amiga Apps 0.32 and that has all 7 disks of LW 3.5. Sadly the darn install script seems broked, so I'll not upload them yet.

well i havent got a game going yet but i will soon im going to write it in blitz ,i used to be good at blitz but hell i havent used it for years and cant even remember how to do a double buffered display lol,but i will look at sample code and remember from there.
i would like to try and make a low poly 3d game but with speed could be tricky but worth a try. |
