Did you know that during AmigaOS 3.2 development no eggs were smashed but many boings got inflated?

I experienced something funny during an upgrade from 3.1.4 to 3.2 today on my A1200...
As far as I can see, loading monitordrivers in 3.2 is done by the LoadMonDrvs in startup-sequence instead of that old list command, and executing the temp-script we know from 3.1 and so on... I guess this command does about the same thing, but there is an interesting sideeffect if there is a directory in DEVS:Montitors/ In my case there was an old directory called "backup" in there (yes I know, bad habits from the old days...), so the full path would be "Devs:monitors/backup/" , and there were some monitor-drivers in there, but that doesn't matter in this case. When the computer boots and reaches the LoadMonDrvs-command, it will launch a program called "backup" which is in my C:-directory. Man I wondered for a while how on earth that program could just start popping up during boot .... and I experienced that the order of installation between OS-install and ROMs are important. If you try to install the ROM first and then boot 3.1.4, it will complain about icon.library and workbench.library, even if they are placed in LIBS:. So I had to install the OS, then swap ROM-chips and the system would boot fine into workbench. |

Datevar uses the system command "Date" check from a Shell if the "Date" command also includes a parameter to show only the time.
Eventually use "ScreenTime" this application shows only the time, clicking on it will show the calendar http://aminet.net/package/util/time/ScreenTime.lha Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 08 July 2021 at 09:30. |

I confirm "ScreenTime" works fine on OS 3.2 also on RTG screens, see screenshot, as said by clicking you also have a calendar.

Tested and seems to go well using "NewLook Palette", "ScreenTime" also allows you to add a background and change Font and color

I was wondering if CardPatch is still required or its patches have been integrated into the new kickstart. I'm specifically talking about cardpatch only, not cardreset which I already added to my custom kickstart using bk_coldresetcard and bk_dosresetcard modules. Thanks.

There are so many expansions that add things that an Amiga doesn't have, I don't see why WinUAE can't.
8MB Fast Ram is better than 2MB Fast RAM |

As a long time 3.9 user is it worth my time to change to 3.2? It seems to me that this is basically an update of the old 3.1 sources to add back some of the more advanced 3.5/3.9 features? Is that basically accurate?

OS3.2 ReAction is actually based on OS4 sources; it is a lot more advanced than the OS3.9 ReAction.
Also, many of the system libraries are direct continuations of the OS3.9 versions, or were never updated by 3.9 in the first place. Last edited by Minuous; 09 July 2021 at 05:49. |

Yes, upgrading the base OS to 3.2 is definitely a good idea. You can continue to use the 3.9 versions of IconEdit etc. if you prefer those.

OS 3.2 install problem with Icon Information
Using Minimig on MiSTer and installed 3.2 on top of an existing 3.1.4 image. Odd thing is that I can't get icon information to show with the WBStartUp tools I'm using:
1) AsyncWB 2) AutoArrangeIcons 3) FreeWheel 4) MinimigWheelDriver 5) RAWBInfo Any idea what the problem might be? The system is set up as an A1200 and it using the 3.2 kickstart. I'm also using the latest Peter K icon library. Thanks |

Sure, but THERE IS NO expansion that gives 8 megs of chips and 330 megs of fast !! No amiga has and can have these characteristics So mister carlo let's stop telling people that winuae emulates a 100% amiga since you emulate an amiga with hundreds of megs of ram that can NEVER exist on a real AMIGA! An emulator must emulate the machine 100% must not go FURTHER since they do not exist in reality Good day |
