Dopus v4.16 started to crash
Hi Folks
Using REAL Amiga 4000/040. Was using 4.12 and updated to 4.16. Amiga has only a few extras added like unzip, jpg vew, adfblitzer, virus Z III (installed after the crashing) and of course whdload free version and a dozen games and few demos. Issue started as, when i would iconify Dopus, the workbench screen gives me a #80000005 error, suspend/Reboot option. I can't get back in so dopus is dead for that session till reboot. Sometimes, when starting up, the error appears straight away, i reboot and sometimes it doesn't appear at all, then i use it, do everything i can in one shot cause when i click I - she'll crash. I see others have had this crash but not with Dopus. Its on a fairly fresh (2 days old) install of WB 3.1 on CF Card. Thank if anyone has an idea. |

Have you tried to check your system for viruses? HNY96, for example.
I would try Virus Workshop (booted from a write protected floppy). |

Did you change anything on the system prior to this problem starting? If some library got replaced it could cause these kinds of problems.
If you didn't change anything in software, then I would consider some hardware issue, e.g. RAM (run some memory test program) or supply (have caps been replaced on the MB?). |

Do you use setpatch from workbench 3.1 install disks?
This causes dopus to crash my system and it works fine after updating to a newer version (v43) |

Possibly start snoopdos to see if there are useful information about path and used files Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 08 December 2016 at 00:49. |

Ahh my old friend snoopdos - love this back in my BBS days - will try, and will try setpatch too.
No left over files from 4.12 as system got redone, but never had issues with 4.12 on the previous test install. System is back from a recap only a week ago, Virus Z III says all clean. And yes i've been installing a few tools as said in first post, so something could have been replaced. Now i have some direction - thank you folks.... will report back. |

The issue returned so i guess i need to look at the 4.17? Which one? There's lots of beta pre-releases... any inparticular i should look at .. or maybe i should just consider using 4.12 if there's nothing important for ye olde Amiga users. |

I have been fully satisfied with 4.12 for two decades. What do you think is important in 4.17 in comparison to the older one?

I didn't have a reason to use a latest one except, like any reason we use the latest, new features, issues resolved. The Amikit CF i got had it pre-installed and it got wiped, so when searching for dopus to install, it was easy to grab that and install, didn't really realise it was a problem release. I'll go back to 4.12 (oh, i think i was going to do that but the CU amiga disc didn't have a HDD installer so i used 4.16 as it did .
I'm too far gone from using Amigas to recall how to do manual installs without forgetting something and causing a different set of issues. |

Looks like Dopus 4.12 is the go, its running with no issues....
I have ONE important config issue.... my 250mb DH0: and 16mb RAM: will show remaining space, but my 3.6gb DH1: comes up blank, like Dopus can't read the remaining size, so anytime i go to copy files, i get warning contents may not fit (a warning i switched on incase i'm not paying attention and copying something too big to memory and crash) Is that a limitation of Dopus in the 4.12 region? |
