3D combat is optional features, but not mandatory to play the game. If you disable 3D features it is like any other strategy war games.
I'll have a look at it. Thanks!

I tried, pretended that I know what I am doing... did not last long enough for me to consider I am playing the game.

My cousin was into Deuteros, but I never managed to figure it out.

*Shameless plug time* But did you know Anubis that over at HOL we have many fine manuals that can teach you how to play a game. And look, here's one for Deuteros: https://hol.abime.net/340/manual

Deuteros definitelly looks very interesting guys.
Gotta try it.

Is it realtime, or turn based? Can you compare it with any other titles?
Is it like Reunion maybe?
On the first look, it kinda reminds me on Reunion.

When I tried it there was no HOL or EAB...

Got it from cousin, who still lives in Offenbach am Main. At the time, I did not speak any English. (Not that I am doing much better today )

It's a sequel to Millenium 2.2, pretty much similar gameplay.

I see you snatched the bundle. I was looking at it earlier. I think I have most of them, but it would be nice to have them much easier installed from steam. (another proof I am getting old and lazy )

I'm thinking about a separate video for the first Dune. It was more on an adventure side, though rather than hardcore strategy, right?

Well, if you provide helpful content, be it in the form of manuals or walkthroughs, I believe there's no place for "shameless" there. It's just a useful plug.

After all, us, Amiga fans are getting older and older and it's a given that in time there will be less and less of us. We gotta help each other, right?

Don't remind me, please But very true about hints and tips for old games. I can't count the times a manual or a post helped me get into or through a game

Yes, more adventure, but it have some strategic elements, especially towards the end of the game.

I find it hard to classify the first Dune game. I think "time management" comes the closest, a genre to which Reunion also belongs IMO.

The gameplay loop of Dune is hard to make sound like it is fun. What do you do? Essentially find and deploy "resources" (mostly Fremen squads and equipment for them to use) to gather spice, cultivate crops and kill Harkonnen. If you don't do it in the proper proportions, you'll lose because you either won't have enough spice, or you won't have enough (motivated) troops. Meanwhile you're looking for the triggers to make the rather thin plot progress. A plot which really takes a back seat, I mean you meet Chani and she instantly falls head over heels in love with you just by looking at you. That ain't how it happens in the source material

I still love the game because it was so experimental and it was exceptionally well-designed to reflect the Dune universe. Cryo made one other similar game which is Lost Eden, which leaned more towards the plot than the resource management subgame. I find that one slightly more replayable because then the epic style of the game has more time to breathe.

Sometimes it's cool just to kick back and manage the $hit out of the mechanics rather than manically take part in everything personally.
