Don't see any difference between that and the 'original'.

Well, for a start, it's not Doom! It's a shareware attempt for a doom clone on a bog standard 8MHz ST. No more comments from me, thanks!
edit: Here's the REAL doom for Atari Falcon http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/atari_shack/pmdoom.zip |

Euuggghhh. Not the prettiest Doom version it has to be said. Now if you ever get chance to see the Speccy demo of Doom then you will be impressed - well I was :-)

Turns out that that ST thing was written using STOS and STOS 3D.

The ST may be just a glorified Spectrum with better graphics but it had the wonderful Super Sprint and Oids. Now they were good games.

Seems even the 3DO will get one before we do. And only recently a real playable Jag emu made it. |

Not like there are a million falcon specific games to need its own emulator.
There are enough cool games for the ST and Amiga that you dont need a crappy looking doom clone. |

Hey Silv
Good to see you adding some important info! I remember seeing the Falcon at a demo at a computer store here in Manhattan and never trying it. Always wondered what it's like. Cool link! |

I have never actually seen a real live Falcon myself and at the rates they are going these days I probably won't ever see one. Its a rare piece of atari machinery that Atari Corp. never really bothered to make a serious market campaing for. I think they pretty much released it thinking "Well, things better improve otherwise we'll be out of business soon" ... and no one new it was released.
I guess they put a little effort in it when they later released the Jaguar but by then it was all to late anyway with the Playstation just around the corner. |

Damn why does it have to be linked to MicroSuck??
Why not code in C++ or visual basic?? |

I think that one of the reasons for programming NetAtari is to learn more about that language.
Whatever it is coded with, it should be a pretty nice bundle. |
