Amiga 1200 restoration now online.
I have finally finished creating the tutorial on restoring an Amiga 1200 back to its forma glory.
It guides you through all the steps needed, to strip it down, paint and rebuild. It is image intensive so you will need a gfx card and a beefe miggy to view it. Or just use the PeeCee. I hope you find it useful. I am just finishing off my PeeCee PSU to A500 PSU case conversion off. This will be online soon. See the guide here! http://www.a1200.sksoftware.co.uk/index.html |

@r6stu
Clearly Awesome... and using the dishwasher, man after my own heart i must admit.. however i do find it opens the plastic up nicely, removes all the grease and grit where hand washing can leave behind an extremely awesome how-to stu, you should should be proud |

"Attach the HD to the holder with an elastic band, criss crossing it over to give tension"
Bad move. I sold a machine like that, well packed and guess what... the HD came away and I had to cough up for another HD. Screw the HD to the bracket! |

The cage dose also not have sides to allow the side holes to be used. Also 3,5" drives are generally not secured. |

Veery nice effort A nice guide.
Only point I had thoughts about was washing plastic parts in a dishwasher. Won't it warp the plastic? Probably varies between different types of plastic, it worked with yours, so When I have time to prioritize it I will think of a way to make a nice little slit in my A1200 for an SD card instead of something warm, less reliable, and noisier with clunky mechanical parts Perhaps also a built in DF1 and a TFT ... |

i have checked the tut, two or three things comes up in my mind :
1) how much time in the dishwasher 2) Are you sure that the water heat doesn't render the plastic more fragile ? Thanks for answering |

I really do like your guide, I will have to do the same job on my A600 as it's also very yellow on one side. Great job . |

FWIW:
I've never had problems with computer plastic warping in a dishwasher. (I've even boiled-up keyboard keys in a pot of dye without problems) Provisos... -Main cases & keys seem to be pretty robust. Bits attached to cases & the keyboard itself, not. -Don't go mad with the temperature - 60c is hot enough! |
