FTP TOSEC file sharing

I am in the process of downloading the entire TOSEC collection from the FTP Server and I was wondering about sharing the files with others and if it was OK to do so.

In other words giving a DVD of it to other people.

You won't get the entire Amiga TOSEC from FTP because it isn't all there!
And even if it was it's 430 GB So DVD's are a non runner. It would take around 95 DVDs!

What is usually frowned upon is people selling (DVDs, CDs, hard disk, SD cards) filled with stuff collected by the community for a profit.

So I don't believe that anyone would be angry at you giving the collection on a DVD for free (or the cost of the DVD).

Of course, piracy is bad and I hope that you are downloading these files only because you want to use them as backups for your physical collection...

Agreed

Yeah right, as that's exactly what I've done when I collected / updated the TOSEC collection over decades... and I'm sure many others have only done the same; as what you've mentioned above

What about all the WHDLoad installs that are available? Are you also going to tell me that people leeching these are only grabbing games that are "backups for their physical collection"?

Come on man; don't be so naive. I haven't owned an original Amiga game since the early 1990's.

Did I really need to put a winking smiley at the end of that sentence?

Its obviously not for profit, just sharing what others may not have the time to collect and archive or whatever. If its not OK I won't do it, that's why I asked.

I was about abut to say I haven't either but I remember I actually bought some Amiga RPGs on ebay just for the manuals, I am not sure if the Floppies even work. I would be willing to mail the floppies to someone if they wanted them.

This isn't entirely true; I've bought loads of "new" games that have been released for the Amiga over the past 4 years or so

What I meant is that I haven't purchased old games that were released in the Amiga's heyday.
