Bootblock corruption
Yet again, I had the annoying problem of the corruption of the boot block, this time caused by a faulty WHDLoad game.
The corruption made the AMIGA unable to detect the HDD partitions. For me isn't a problem to reformat everything and install Workbench again (this time, I would go with BetterWB distribution, as the ClassicWB looks too bloated for me), but I wonder if there's a way to save the data from the partitions to avoid losing all the downloads and the data I saved so far. |

It was actually Trolls AGA - at the moment the Flair Software logo was shown, all the audio and video glitched, crashing the AMIGA.
So, I rebooted and the AMIGA purple floppy boot splash screen appeared instead of booting from the HDD. I booted my AMIGA 1200 with the Workbench 3.1 floppy and all the HDD partitions disappeared. |

This should not happen and it is a serious problem you have with your system. What filesystem do you use? You should make/have a backup of your HDD and maybe RDB too.
A WDHLoad install do not write data to HDD while running if you do not configure WHDLoad this way. By default writes to HDD are only done when quite WHDLoad. |

Yeah, perhaps it was an issue that wasn't directly related to WHDLoad. The used filesystem is the classic FFS. I made 3 partitions on a 4 GB CompactFlash (200MB the first one and 1,6 GB in the other 2 ones) - which makes me think that perhaps the CF might be faulty, as most of the WHDLoad games and demos didn't load properly before that was happening.
Guess I'll go back with the 2 GB CF I used before (which was a Transcend one iirc) and in the meantime, I'll try to recover the data in some way. Guess there are tools for that. |

Bromigo! Also worth checking for Viruses.
Get these if you already haven’t done so: http://aminet.net/package/util/virus/VirusZ http://aminet.net/package/util/virus/xvslibrary Run a full volume scan once you’ve installed them. |
