Games which were converted more than once

Teenage Mutant Hero/Ninja Turtles had two different conversions to the Amiga from the NES original, this one published in Europe by Image Works and this one published in the US by Ultra.

Similarly Afterburner had two different conversions from the arcade: this one published in Europe by Activision, and this one published in the US by Sega themselves.

Were any other games converted (officially) more than once on to the Amiga?

You know why, stupid ideas. They decided that using the word ninja would encourage violence in kids.

Yep they have a real thing about martial arts in the UK, a scene from the film TMNT 3 where he swung some sauseges arround was removed as it looked to much like nun chucks. Shadow Warrior on the PC was released with darts instead of throwing stars because thats so much better, and the machine guns are just fine!

I know that was why they changed the name for the European release - doesn't explain why they reprogrammed the game from the ground up!

Anyone know of any more of these? Quite an interesting topic. Afterburner was the only one I knew of.

Wasn't there some Ikari Warriors madness also, or was that C64?

"Return" is official, just not an arcade port.

Interesting, I will compare these.

I know a few for the C64 (720 Degrees, Bionic Commando, Rampage, Ikari Warriors). In each case, there is a "US" version and a "UK" version done by different teams. I would suppose that the reason what that separate licence deals for the different regions were negotiated by the coin-op manufacturer. Generally, the UK versions are the superior ones, in my judgment.

Zoom. But I am not sure, if it is a conversion.

There are two different versions, with different graphics, one is not in HOL.

certainly not. Elite Ltd has splitted the whole arcade game space harrier in 2 different parts.

the first part of space harrier holds the 10 first levels, and the space harrier return to the zone holds the 10 lasts levels.

why did they do that ? Only god knows !

HOL must be updated on this matter, there is an error about this.

Aliens had two completely different games on the C64.. Thing is it's confusing as all hell as one of the version was then ported to the UK as the American edition or something.

Also paper boy had two different ports as well as Star Wars.

OutRun? Think I read once that the US version worked on the A500+ but the UK one didn't, could this be why?

I think thre were plenty of games that had minor differences, like Battletechs US version had red spots left from enemies, while the Euro version had some different color if i recall right.

However, I never knew before there existed games that were actually completely different programmings. If HOLs info is true, otehr TMNT contains 1 disk, while other one has 3 Disks. Thats pretty big difference!

Similarly those Afterburners look very different from each other as well.

When it comes to UK being sensitive to martial arts stuff, I guess roots for that very low tolerance might lie in Stanley Kubricks "Clockwork orange". There is this scene where they rape and kill this woman while singing, and someone imitated that in UK. Perhaps they are afraid of same thing happening again.

If that is the reason, then I just dont get the logic behind lets change throwing stars which only very few have access to to avoid them imitating the game character into darts which are available from any english Pub.
