And I'd say the g shouldn't be silent any more than the g in words like prognosis, agnostic, diagnose, etc. are.

I know the chap who programmed the CD32 version of Microcosm and he pronounces it SIG-nosis.

When it's clearly pronounced 'sigh' in one of their games, you cannot pretend it's actually different from that later on.

Well, the Psygnosis panel said they pronounced it SIGnosis internally! But, if Roger Dean did come up with the name/logo and if someone is in contact with him, probably best to hear it from the horses mouth!

I think it is very easy in English, isn't it? Depends how you read PSI vs PSY.

I was introduced to the name as a young Dutch kid and I never really stopped calling it the way I called it then, which means no silent P Basically how Seiya describes it.

Not that I have any reason to say the name out loud nowadays so who was ever going to correct me.

I've always pronounced it "saignosis."

Awesome name for a developer by the way.

I went for a job interview there in the early 90's and was given a tip of making sure to pronounce it SIG-nosis. The job ended up going to someone who knew a couple of people already working there, and also pronounced it that way.

p-süg-nosis

At least back in the day in school and with friends, we did not even try to pronounce it like English speakers would do, since it seamed to be inspired by old greek

So with P in the beginning and the Y pronounced like something between a German I and Ü - like in "kyrie eleison"

"puh-sigh-guh-no-sis"

Anything else is just wrong. Including the people who created it - even the guy who invented the gif format pronounces it wrong, after all.

Not sure I have ever said it out loud, and in my head its probably always just been that my brain recognises the logo. If I am making any sense. But would probably err on SIGH

In a slightly connected misheard lyrics kind of way, I had always referred to Id software as I D software for some reason. Strange how our brains work

Did he?
It is clearly pronounced like "gift" without the t in the end.

Always know it as "Signosis". Even people I have met who worked there pronounce it the same.

Others are right though, proberly should be "Sighnosis".
