Removing cracktro
Hello,
even it is a bit late: Happy new year to all of you! My problem: Is it possible to remove the cracktro from a disk? I know, I could just klick LMB, but I am interested in. Thx for helping! |

Yes it is, if it's a standard DOS disk you just need to edit the startup-sequence, if it's a trackloading disk (NDOS) you can't remove the intro without coding knowledge.

You can also delete file with cracktro if you don't know how to edit startup sequence but editing is better idea.

But if you deleted the file without editing the startup-sequence wouldn't that cause the startup to fail?

No it won't. You have to edit the startup sequence or it will break and then you'll have to enter the game executable name in CLI to play.

Startup-sequence itself continues even after fatal error if started with failat 21 line.

But if the game needs it, you have to look "inside" the intro to know what kind of code the game needs to run and to where (address) is move and make a routine to load only that code (i allways used the same load routine in the bootblock that loads the intro, but to load only that code but without the jump instruction). |

And that means what? You need at least some coding knowledge to do that... Nothing else I said!
