Unable to read 7z compressed adf images

Hi All,

I have installed WinUAE 1.2.0 and installed the 7zip extensions dll
ArchiveAccess.dll at :

WinUAE\plugins\

But when I try to open a adf file compressed with .7z I get an error :

"The selected floppy disk image is not bootable (boot block checksum error)"

If I uncompress the image the adf file is loaded and booted fine.

The strange thing is occasionally it will work with a 7z compressed image,
then I go back to the same file later and suddenly its not bootable!!

Have I done something wrong or missed something?

Please help!

Cheers,
Richard.

I'm suspecting something about the 7z dll plugin is at fault here, however I bet Toni can shed some more light on this matter

Try the latest plugin package from the WinUAE homepage. For me it works fine. ArchiveAccess.dll dated with the 10.12.2004

Thanks for replying.

I am using the ArchiveAccess.dll dated 10.12.2004 from the WinUAE web site already i'm afraid. Its version 3.12.0.0.

Using Filemon (sysinternals.com) I can see ArchiveAccess.dll being loaded when opening a 7z compressed adf file in WinUAE. I then get the error :

"The selected floppy disk image is not bootable (boot block checksum error)"

Of course uncompressing the adf file all works fine again.

Any other ideas?

Cheers,
Richard.

Did you compress the 7z files yourself with official tools? Maybe your archives were compressed with some faulty 3rd party compressor.
Don't know for sure... but maybe 7z standard was changed/extended during time.

Thanks Nox1911.

I compressed all my .adf. images with a batch 7zip tool called zipzag. I have also tried compressing some images manually with the latest official 7zip tool from www.7-zip.org (v4.42).

Does anyone know what version of 7-zip is ArchiveAccess.dll based on? or what versions of 7-zip are known to work with ArchiveAccess.dll ?

Cheers,
Richard.

Can you upload or email one non-working 7zipped adf?
