Right guys. What's the best settings for this? How do you play it? I need some help figuring out the rules as I know nothing about this game.

Important factors that has to be taken under consideration:

1. What car do you use?
2. On which track do we race (Master, Europe, USA)?

Also, against the clock or computer? What skill level? I really don't get this game at all. How do I go in the 'gas' station? Why do I feel the urge to shoot myself in the head whilst playing?

I think vs CPU is more fun. But if its scoring system isn't suited for our competition then vs clock's surely will be.

Something above 4, because then you must use manual transmission. Maybe 6 or 8?

Don't remember. Isn't it just braking like in Lotus?

So what are the settings/rules we need to use? What defines the score? I plan to do a "first" play for my YouTube channel for each of the games through out 2013... I doubt my actual final score will be in the video... I will add a link to the compo thread for each video!

Does it show average speed for sector? IIRC it does and this is a good test of skill

I would go for the clock ;-)

I would vote for the last one on the right with automatic gear (I guess this is the forth one).

You should see the sign and in a moment you would see the gas station on the right. Now, there is a white line behind which you should stop. There is also another white line which you can't cross. Crossing would still advance you to the next level but you will get either penalty time or lose a life (can't remember precisely).

If I had to choose the settings I would go for:

- Level of difficulty = fourth from the left (the last one with automatic gear)
- Track = all three and we add up the score
- Car = anyone you like. The tactic is to choose the one with which people could make a higher score.

I was actually thinking the same after I played it. We'll go with this then. Thanks!

Due to dissent I've decided to change it to these settings.

- Master cars and Master scenery only
- Highest difficulty setting
- Against the clock

This is final.

Thanks Graham, I knew you'd be flexible on this . Over at lemon I think we were fine about master disk and cars etc, it was just the difficulty really (which may have been open to abuse otherwise). Dissent? certainly heated debate.

This game can be tricky but it's a lot more playable in NTSC mode / 60fps.

For all the playing tips I've discovered, check out my guide on the lemon thread:

Not too bad for a first play, I havent played this since 20 years, and it still contains the same old weirdnesses...

Edit: Racing only one course set feels a bit short, but thats the way it is it now.

So, er, is anyone else from EAB actually going to enter? I will this weekend. But the current ratio of 10 Lemon players to 1 EAB is a little worrying.

I will post a score at some point - still 2 weeks to go

I have just been relaxing on the gaming front after being exhausted from the Knockout rounds.
