How do I mount a Archos HD?

I want to mount an Archos HD and install Workbench on it.
But it doesn´t appear in the HDToolbox. I have tried to mount it
with the file " " but nothing happens.
Do I need any special installation program?
Where could I get it then?

When I start the A1200 with workbench floppy disk an icon from
the HD appears, when opening it a window with the files ´´, ´ ´ and the
drawers "s" and "devs" appears.

Use something like sysinfo (aminet) to find what devices are in mem.. You'll probably be looking for something like ide.device or 2nd.scsi.device or archos.device.

Then use hdtoolbox archos.device (of course replace with the device name you found)

The device name is case sensitive.

I have downloaded sysinfo 1.01 from aminet but I don´t know how to use it. None of the files in the archive is executable.
I don´t know much about Amiga as I´m completely new to this computer.

OK! Now I have figured out what tooltypes is and I have found out the device name. Sysinfo gives this information: CC0: and carddisk.device, but I still don´t know how to configure tooltypes for hdtoolbox correctly. Any ideas?

Do what Jope suggested and run HDToolBox from cli with hdtoolbox <devicename> or highlight HDToolBox, and press RightAmiga+I or select Information from menu to edit tooltypes.

I doubt it's actually CC0: .. that's reserved for SRAM cards in the PCMCIA slot.

Please use SysInfo 3.24 .. 1.01 is just for historical purposes, or perhaps a different tool..

http://aminet.net/package/util/moni/SysInfo

Use the cycle gadget in the top of the screen until it reads devices (to the right of the text "system software installed"). Then you can see all the devices in mem in the list. Look until you see something that resembles scsi, ide, or archos...

scsi.device is the internal ide connector, so don't select that. HDToolBox searches in scsi.device per default and if you can't see anything there, then it was not the correct one.

The correct device name should be amiquest.device, at least that's what it says on the the install disk which can be found here.

A friend of mine had one of those drives. If I remember correctly it had its own HDToolbox called AQTools or something similar.

Edit: Just gone through the installdisk and i found AQTools/AQToolbox, I`m sure this is what my friend used to mount the device.

There must be something wrong with this drive. I can´t install it even with the original installation disk. Or it doesn´t cooperate with the IDE drive.

Is the drive inside a 2.5" or 3.5".
If it`s a 2.5" try removing it and connecting to the amiga direct or if it`s a 3.5" try connecting to a PC and run Winuae to see if it`s detected.
