AROS One 68k can now play Midi music via both Hardware and Software.

To play MIDI files via Real or Emulated Hardware, you need to use Players like Multiview that take advantage of the Hardware, on AROS One 68k in order to play Midi I had to replace a system library and Datatypes with one taken from Aminet.

To play MIDI files via Software instead you need to use Players that need software tools like those provided by Timidity and GMPlay packages.

I enclose a video that shows first how Multiview plays a Midi File via Hardware (Emulated), the second Player instead DaPlayer plays the Midi File via Software (Timidity).

In this case I had to experiment with OS3 libraries and drivers while waiting for someone to develop them for AROS 68k.

On AROS One 68k Dopu4 is enriched, now with one click you can create LHA, LZX, ZIP, RAR, 7Zip, TAR and GZ archives.

Not only that, always on Dopus4 the LHA, LZX, ZIP, RAR, 7Zip, TAR and GZ archives with one click will be automatically transformed in a folder with all the data already available for use, see exhaustive video

This new Dopus4 configuration will also be ported to AROS One x86.

Again a new ROM, now the Early Startup Control is more advanced and allows you to choose or disable the Devices shown in the menu.

AROS One 68k has grown but is not yet ready for distribution, at the moment it is not available anywhere.

As soon as it reaches a good stability "without using more libraries native OS3" will be ready for Distribution.

Improved again the AROS 68k ROMs, the good downloaded has fixed a problem on Demos and Games where the system would hang as soon as you exit the Demo or Game.
You can find the new ROMs on ae.amigalife.org or in the next AROS 68k Nightly Builds.

This morning I wanted to install the native AROS 68k version from Contrib, and I must say that it works well even if there are some incompatibilities, compared to the OS3 version the AROS Contrib version is much more advanced, I Workbench looks like both Workbench 3.9 and Ambient of MOS.

Initially I struggled a bit, Scalos AROS has problems in saving preferences, and does not support Dual-PNG icons.

In the end I solved it by converting my Dual-PNG icons to OS4 icons (Power Icons), formatted widely supported, I attach first Scalos di Contrib AROS 68k is much more updated than the OS3 version, some time ago I tried to install it on my AROS One 68k but it didn't work well, I had used the OS3 version.

This is a preview of AROS One 68k based Scalos native AROS 68k (see attached screenshot).At the moment Scalos on AROS 68k, but also AROS x86, needs some fixes on handling DualPNG icons, in the speed opening windows with icons, and in the Scalos Prefs system App that with allow direct saves.
In favor of Scalos some important functions that are missing on Wanderer !!

AROS was born as an Amiga of the future that could take advantage of powerful and cheap PC hardware.

AROS 68k can run on a real Amiga, but since AMiGA is not powerful enough a lot of things on AROS would have to be removed to make it work.

This would make little sense; at this point better to use Amiga OS

Yes for applications that use AHI.

For applications that do not use AHI, on WinUAE you have to re-enable sound emulation
