A1200 goes red when it reads a disk!

Hi all.. I got a A1200 that had a green hue to all the outputs ( see other topic )
I got a spare A1200 ( with no roms, floppy or keyboard )

So what I did was move my roms, floppy and keyboard to this new mobo.
All boots up fine

but when I insert a disk and it access`s it.. the screen goes red. and I have to reboot..

Any ideas???? al I know is that my A1200 with green hue is an original and the spare mobo is from a A1200 labelled `Amiga A1200 HD ` I`m guessing Amiga Technologies version..

are the floppies compatible??

Sounds like your ROMS are not in correctly OR they are broken.

But as you've already booted, this may be a (pardon the pun) a red herring.

Checks

Have you checked your video connectors for bent pins, also that your video cable is not damaged or crushed, barring that it may not be the amigas fault at all - do you have any other monitors to test it with.

Only other thought is trying to gently press on the video related and ram related chips while the machine is going and in fault state, also when the screen goes red - does everything stop ?

Or do your caps light etc keep working and floppy drive keep clicking.

ROM error, reseat or replace Kickstart ROMS (this can also be caused by worn insulation covering the back end of the pins that connect an IDE cable to a hard drive, aka short).

Hey guys ...

Hey Guys,

I might be wrong about this but if there was a problem with the roms causing the system to go red wouldnt it be the case that the keyboard caps light would not work and that the drive would stop clicking.

did you try to check the quote I made

as a grope in the air,

have you thought of PSU / Power issue ?

it could be the spinning up of the floppy drawing to much from a tired psu ?

just a though.... I like dizzy's idea too
