It wouldn't be so bad if they just sold kits. Great product let down by AOTL. They'll be losing so much business from people who don't want to wait 2 years and even if you ordered today the A1200.net keyboard will probably be available before it gets delivered.

I can't understand why they won't just sell them as kits to be assembled by the user, with no warranty. Soldering one of these together could even be accomplished by the most ham-fisted of n00bs.

As for the A1200.net keyboard, I wouldn't hold my breath because the A1200.net keycaps and what not have been delayed for some time now. Add that to the fact that some of the keycaps had quality issues that should have never been shipped to customers and that is messy too. |

Kippers Hardware page doesn't seem to be up n running.
(A visit to kipper2k.com returns a "Not Authorized to View This Page [CFN #0004] " Anyone knows where Kipper2k is? Is he OK? What's going on? |

Honestly people are complaining about how slow AOTL are but i ordered my keyboard from A1200.net a month or so before this one, i received my kipper kb 9 months ago and still no sign of A1200.net anytime soon.

I pledged on December 2016 for 2 set of keycaps from a1200.net. Some time later I did the same for 2 Amiga 500 cases...and still waiting!
However, I like a1200.net communication which keeps us updated about eventual problems they cope with. I suppose AotL are missing communication. |

As such anything cool he comes up with is farmed out, in this case AOTL took the project on. He was involved in design and development (as was mkstr), but in terms of manufacture it's AOTL dealing with all that. |

However, its curious none of his previous stuff is listed on the Kipper2 section of the AOTL site. http://amigaonthelake.com/kipper2k/ |

I looked at both a1200.net and AOTL projects. Not seeing a website update of the a1200.net keyboard since 2017! I know it took near 2 years for my keycaps and case to arrive from their kickstarter, but that update from so long ago now wouldnt fill me with any hope.
AOTL doesnt seem to be taking pre orders or anything for their keyboard. Does anyone know if Kipper's design is still going on sale there at any point in the future? |

Looking around the net I think you're right! I had backed the project way back and got the first batch. There were QA issues though and never got a replacement key for one that was misprinted! Think they also promised a floppy drive button for the cases but that never materialised either. Still, got a replacement set and thankful for that.
Think the keys are still on their way though, their blog is never updated but the campaign updates are more recent and tell of manufacture issues and possible delays well into 2021. Feel for anyone who missed out, the waiting is insane. Sadly these kind of things will just put off anyone wanting to start a similar project. |

I preordered back in 2018 and am still waiting. I've been told a couple of times that I would receive it the next month, but I never receive anything. This may very well be the worst customer service that I have ever experienced.
I learned to never preorder anything again. |

Well I would LOVE a new keyboard, but reading all of this just puts me off. Waiting since 2017? Yikes!

As it seems to be the case with a lot of these Amiga products that go to retail, poor planning and a serious under-estimation of demand is usually the issue. It's a shame since it means that the majority of Amiga users will never get their hands on any of them.

Some of it could be poor planning, but in some instances maybe it's a small company trying to support the community and getting downed in orders. I really don't know tbh, I would have loved to get a keyboard but not with such a long waiting time. If it was one person, working from home or their shed at the bottom of the garden. Then I'd say, yeah it's understandable.

While everyone still complains i ordered this keyboard a few months after a1200.net keycaps and i received this keyboard about a year ago(i ordered as soon as it went live), and still theres no sign of the keycaps.
Im sorry for everyone still waiting but in perspective its at least not as bad as the keycaps, plus its a much better keyboard than the original which decreases any interest i have in the keycaps whenever they will arrive. |
