THAT might be an accident, i think original ultra-chaotic speed is meant for 60HZ, unless Martin Walker decided on its own to slow things down -_-

(that might be the right hypothesis, considered how one of the best songs plays on the x68000+MT32, same speed as Amiga version)

[EDIT] Looks like Activision ported the US arcade, where music is slower

The japanese music version is at least 10% faster

Tis true, the Amiga version is slower. But it also has softer tones.

I recorded some sound on tape in the early 90's. But I dont have it anymore, but created several CDs in the 2000's.

I like Leander a lot. Further mentions go to Turrican 2 and 3, Onlaught, Coloris, Dragon Wars, Z-Out, Wings of Death, Shadow of the Beast 1 and 3, Hybris, Battle Squadron, Unreal, Ween, Kings Quest 6, Nicky Boom, Cedric and so on.

You can listen to many Amiga tunes I like by the Youtube links in my signature, where my CDs can be found.

Hired Guns. I played it a LOT one of the best amiga games.

I played it both on the amiga 500 (lots of disk swapping)

And on the amiga 1200 when i got one installed on hard drive. Its a better experience on the amiga 1200.

The amiga was my gaming machine until 2007.

Recently I've been going through classic tunes as remade by people in modern years. That's yet another way to rate tunes, how they stand the test of time and can be adopted into completely new forms of music. In that respect I must give a massive shout out to Shadow of the Beast which has been adopted in many marvellous ways, this one stood out to me the most:

Monkey Island following suit, so many covers with so many vocals and instruments.

Bonus shout out to Last Ninja 2, a game mostly remembered for its music and less for the gameplay. Here is one that particularly impressed me because it also has a fair amount of hardware pr0n going on and mixes old with new instruments:

But of course people remember the C64 tunes more fondly than the Amiga ones. Not me though.

Depends on age and country. I remember more fondly Amiga music than C64 music, although for me C64 music is also great with (millions!) lots of great tunes.

If we're going remix then it has to be the master, the original composer, aka Matt Gray

I'm sending a sternly worded letter to Google, why did they not recommend me the Matt Gray one yet!?

YouTube's 'algorithm' is getting worse it seems. I'm getting really shitty recommendations lately that make me engage less with the platform which can hardly be what Alphabet wants.

Yeah, "because we're voting in 202x" Hybris has pretty standard music compared to what came later if I have to be brutally honest. Certainly well-made and easy to listen to, but nothing mind blowing.

I find the main title for Hybris to be one of the most wonderful pieces on the machine. I'm personally not the biggest fan of his work but Hybris is really something else that very few tunes get close to I would personally say. A remarkable piece

I'll go with Supercars 2 but there were many great soundtracks.

These seem to have been overlooked:

Castle Master

Face Off
[ Show youtube player ]

Megaball

I suppose that's just down to how many great soundtracks there were and maybe nostalgia has a bit to do with it.

Shadow of the Beast
Midnight Resistance
Superfrog
Fire e Ice
Agony

But a ranking of only five positions is too short

Yes, a top 10 would feel more like it.
