Many thanks to Higgy! With his PS/2 board and adapters, the FleaFPGA Ohm works like a champ.

I have installed the good HstWB on it and you can find below a few screenshots of it (start-up of the HsTWB, WB31, Hst Game launcher, Sysinfo). It handles two hard drives of 4 gigs each without any issue.

I was particularly impressed by the 8659 dhrystones value. Not too bad for a 50 euro card

Well done to the creator, Valentin!

roc - glad you got a working system now

Kolla - there is Fastram option, up to 24meg? I think.

Yes, it is damn quick for such a small board. Only the FPGAarcade seems to be faster with 10000+ dhrystones, not counting the Vampire until they release the standalone. It should be noted that the Ohm disk access seems to me a bit slower than others, though.

Regarding the fast ram, I was playing with the settings ;-) Like Higgy said, normally I use 24 MB.

Next (personal) step is to try fixing the AGS2 launcher with the HstWB - currently it returns an error like on other ECS solutions like the minimig - despite the Hst launcher already makes it possible browsing the WHDLoad games/demos with ease.

Finally, it would be great adapting the joystick to the GPIO, but this is out of my reach because I do not solder. I have seen some of you faced the same, I am going to keep an eye if someone could find a solution for that.

All in all, this is an excellent board for its costs. I regret I bought only one.

The small Flea does pack a punch. Someone at an AMIGA Meet commented that Elite 2/Frontier looked quick.

The PCB would be very simple, but i have no experience in routing PCB's and making sure they are suitable for a PCB house.

I did mine all by hand soldering. I used an old IDE cable for the GPIO header.

roc - I am sure I have AGS2 working. Check you have all the Kickstart files copied across.

Only downside with the Flea Ohm is that the HDMI does not work with all TV's. I does not work on our Samsungs and they don't have VGA (for HDMI to VGA adapter).

..and well done for your handmade case!

Have ordered one compatible with Rasperry zero, let’s see if I could gently squeeze the Ohm in there..

Is this project dead? it sounds really good, but it seems none of the cores have been updated in forever and no new cores are available
I don't even think you can get new boards, can you?

Ever hear of a thing called "reverse engineering" wouldn't take much to "reverse engineer" the board and make it better with added functions etc,. So no i wouldn't say the project would have to be dead, just resurrect a all most dead project, with obviously a new name.

You may try to contact the guy who created it and persuade him to run another batch? It is truly a cool project. I was fortunate enough to get one during the indiegogo campaign and I still have fun with it. I just wish there was more support with it and more users involved with the cores, etc.

here is the link to the web page: https://www.fleasystems.com/fleaFPGA_Ohm.html

Hi Amigamia and all!

Wow, truly cool project, I had totally missed it!

@amigamia do you know/have a FPGA Arcade? How would you say that this project compare to the FPGA Arcade? What about Amibian or Amiberry?

Cheers!

Hi Tygre, unfortunately I do not own a FPGA Arcade but I would say this, for $40 and its tiny size this is a perfect replacement for the Minimig. It is an awesome piece of hardware and it does pretty well with Amiga 500 base. Doesn't support AGA and the joystick ports are to be connected to the GPIO, which can be quite tricky.

If compared to an Amibian/Amiberry it is not as fast or as capable and that is why I believe it hasn't become bigger than it is. I think UAE Arm emulation or any other architecture UAE emulation gives you much more flexibility and a bigger punch of processing power. For $40 I think a RaspPi 4 gives you much more.

In the eyes of some amiga purists, emulation may not be considered a true amiga. FPGA gives a closer to real amiga sensation as it can get but on the front end it really doesn't matter IMO.

Needles to say, it is a fun little thing.

The Minimig Core has advanced quite a bit recently and we now have a more accurate (cycle accurate?) 68000 CPU Core it's a shame the Flea does not have these updates.
One issue I had was that it does not play ball with the 3x Samsung HDMI TV's we have so I cant actually use it easily.
The DOS PC Core is quite good (ducks for cover!).

Yes, I really liked this project, I was hoping it would be thoroughly tested and put into a keyboard, with Amiga like logos and mass produced.

I did find a similar FPGA project though the ULX3S

I should power it up again and try to set it up again with Workbench. Last time I tried I couldn't get it to work. I'll post some pictures soon. Maybe it'll get enough attention to convince Valentin to run another batch
