Gemini Wing - Defeating the end-boss

Well, I'm about to give up with this thing.

After 45 minutes of playing with save-state (!!) I finally got past this extremely hard level 7, and I'm at the end boss.

With the rockets, I could smash his right wing, but that is about it. Then after more than 10 minutes of shooting with no effect, I do believe that I'm doing something seriously wrong here.

I reckon my strategy is just wrong.

Save-state file is in the zone, for you guys to test yourself.
For safety reasons, I played with the IPF version to not trigger any deliberately implemented "cracked game íssues"

Hey Andreas,

Hmmm, I remeber beating the end guy (who was quite difficult) but this was using MAME and cheat...

I'll download your save file and give it a crack.

Hey Andreas,

Damn, didn't finish it and I was playing for about 20 minutes...

It wasn't that I died, just gave up as boredom set in and wasn't sure how much longer it would have taken. In that time my score "reset" 3 or more times (as it clicked over past 999999 or whatever figure was)...

Here's the deal, I believe in order to kill this bad boy you need to shoot him in the blue part of his tail (note that this will flash white when a hit is registered).

The problem is that this can only be done when his wings are down.

Next problem is that obviously your bullets don't penetrate through his body so the only way you'll hurt him is by collecting / using the weapons that keep coming from the top of the screen.

Also I found that picking up the "homing missile" weapon is absolutely useless as it just keeps circling around him for ages, very occasionally hitting him but having no impact. This of course stops you from using other weapons (as you cannot use 2 weapons at once). Hence, avoid collecting the "homing missile" weapon.

I saved my game just before I gave up (attached). There are 2 lives and hopefully I've damaged him significantly enough for you to continue from where I left off. Just keep hammering away using the above described method until he dies... eventually (hopefully sometime before Christmas)...

Yes indeed - you do need to shoot the blue-ish body of the insect and this is very difficult! No wonder this didn't work for me ... You will not believe it: you MUST keep your remaining lives > 0, defy death and fly INTO that insect!! So that you lose a life, are shielded for some seconds, and then - fire like the devil!
Hmm, you too were wondering why you keep getting all those extra lives, weren't you?

Well, that's what they're for!

I've now prepared a final (!) save-state for you, with still the boss but 1 life left, which you must use to shoot his body! Fly into it like a human being with suicidal tendencies, shoot like mad and => VOILA!

THE END SCREEN!

Excellent news, well done.

I thinks that exactlt how is did it in MAME (using unlimited lives cheat though so you didn't need to be that skillfull)

I used BS1 trained version on real thing yesterday to ensure that the graphics are meant to look like this
