Grrrr.... My A3000 Hard-Drive won't boot!

Hi,

I've had a couple of SCSI harddrives that I can access in WinUAE just fine but when I put them in my A3000, it just doesn't boot......... the drive activates and spins but then the HD LED just stays constantly lit.

Machine boots just fine from floppy when the SCSI cable is disconnected.

I've tried a terminator on the external SCSI port to no avail.... there are no terminators on the MB. No sure if I am using the right kinds of terminator or not, I'm kinda lost when in comes to SCSI.....

Just replaced barrel battery with coin-cell.... could that have something to do with it?

Thanks

Replacing the battery will reset the NVRAM which includes the SCSI settings. But, SCSI defaults are usually safe (ie. SCSI controller ID=7, transfer mode=synchronous).

Termination needs to be on both ends of the cable. In your case that means the drive and the external SCSI port. Once you get the termination sorted you can try a different SCSI ID to rule out a conflict (just in case the controller is set to 0 for some reason).
