3.5" harddrives

I just got 2 Maxtor 5200rpm harddrives for the Amiga. I've tried both in my tower and neither workbench 3.1 or OS 3.9 will detect them. My question is, does the amiga take any 3.5" harddrive or is it fussy? If the amiga is fussy with 3.5" harddrive any one have a list of compatable drives? I'm looking for 3.5" harddrives 4gb+ thanks.

I have a Maxtor 20GB 5200RPM HD on my amiga... no prob whatsoever...

If HDToolBox from 2.1 or 3.9 won´t detect it, try HDInstTools from Aminet

I allready had almost 20 different 3,5" HD Drives in my various amiga computers and all of them work

The cables fine as I can use my smaller 1gb 3.5" drive on it. I'll give HDInstTools a go and tell you how I get on.

EDIT: I decided to give HDInstTools a go so after ftping it to the amiga I replaced the cd rom drive with the maxtor to act as a second harddrive. I tried the OS 3.9 hdtools first and it detected the drive

Don't know why it wouldn't detect it when I loaded it all up with the emergency disc. All 20gb show up as well.

I'm going to copy everything over from the smaller harddrive to the maxtor. I've got another harddrive I'm going to try after and put it in the other tower. Thanks for all the help.
