Exodus the last war - CD Audio
Hi,
I have an issue with Exodus the Last War, on real Amiga H/W. Setup - A1200, Blizzard 1260, Squirrel SCSI Cd-ROM. No busboards/graphics cards etc. I've downloaded the latest updates for the game, so it doesn't require the CD present to run. I get two issues:- no CD Audio using either squirrelscsi.device or cd.device, in the config utility. Also when launching the game it says it can't open exodus video library (which I think it uses for an intro anim), I can however continue and run the game. The CD does not appear to read properly in my CD drive - it is detected, but all sub folders appear empty. In order to install the game, I had to copy the files from my Mac to a CF card. The disk is read fine by Mac/PC, all folders are viewable. The Audio plays fine in my standard audio CD player. When I first got the game the Amiga couldn't read the disc at all, but I found a different 'CD0' mount file whch got me a bit further, as above. So I'm guessing the format of the disk is a bit non-standard (its an original btw, NOT a copy burned from an ISO etc). Any ideas or suggestions gratefully received (please don't say WinUAE though - I'm not interested in Emulation) Thanks!!! |

I played Exodus on A1200 (68030 and 68040, AGA) with AsimCDFS and it worked fine. I didn't install any updates.
I remember that in install utility I had to accept cd device name and unit number with Enter key - clicking on OK gadget wasn't enough. After that CD audio should be OK. Intro animation requires library that is not present on CD. I don't remember its name but use SnoopDOS and it will show you what's missing. AFAIR that library is available on Aminet. |

I think it's exodusvideo.library that you copy to LIBS: then intro-anim should work. Or add an assign LIBS: to your game-directory where the file is.

Missing files probably mean incompatible/buggy/old CD filesystem.

Yes, if it can't read files from CD where the video library is then it's not found thus missing file...
Install AsimCDFS and be done with it. |

Oh yes, it's probably this one. So it is on CD but install utility doesn't install it where it should be. You have to copy it manually. |

Thanks for the replies
![]() When I did the install of Exodus - having copied the entire CD minus the music tracks onto a CF card, I did a full install - this installs everything including the exodusvideo.library, anims etc. I've already used snoopdos to see where it was looking, copied the library into into Libs: - still no joy though. I'm less bothered by this than getting the CD Audio to work though! I tried pressing enter after changing the CD library in the config tool to squirrelscsi.library and the unit to 1 etc, as suggested by PopoCop, unfortunately this hasn't worked for me. My Miggy is running Dary's AmigaSYS4 - with all the OS 3.9 updates + 'Boing Bags' installed At the moment I'm using CDFilesystem, I also have CacheCDFS (from OS3.9 if memory serves?) to try, so I'll give that a go later as it may have more luck. Can anyone advise where I can get AsimCDFS, as it never appears to have been released to public domain? - well I can't find it on Aminet anyway. Is anyone actually still selling it? Cheers! |

Just use CacheCDFS if you have WB 3.9. Works like a clock.

Yeah, I'm enjoying it so far :-)
Was a 'big box' version of Exodus ever released, or has it always just been available in a cd jewel case? I had the demo when it came out in the late 90's, but only got the full game from Amigakit a couple (okay, maybe a few) of years back, and it was just the cd, not even a cover or insert etc. edit: just saw the box scan on HOL, so I guess that answers that! I'll keep an eye out on ebay me thinks..... Last edited by OldB0y; 27 November 2013 at 22:53. |

The first release was in a Big Box.
Then as the Boxes sold off, we release it as CD in Juwelcase with Cover. As the Covers sold of we release it in a blank Juwelcase. After the CD sold off we release it as Download-Version. |
