I've tried your config (for others wishing to test - the download Sandruzzo mentioned seem to be just the WinUAE settings, you still need to have a bootup disk and the rygar.adf).

It works fine on the emulated A1200 with 2MB. AFAIK it mostly runs at 50Hz but there seem to be slowdowns every now and then (specifically as soon as the birds carrying the men show up).

I also tested it on an A500+ configuration with 2MB of chipram, this seemed to crashed the machine (no GURU just a lot of junk on the screen as if bitplane pointers where set incorrectly) immediately.

Since it does work on the 68020 processor with KS3.1, here are my guesses for what could be wrong:
  • You accidentally use a KS3.1 only routine during startup
  • You accidentally use 68020 only instructions somewhere
  • One or more dresses is not word aligned, which works on the 68020 but not the 68000. Not sure what this would do for the custom chipset if you used say an odd address for a bitplane pointer, as I never tried it, but that could also be that this crashes the OCS chipset

Anyway, one last tip: it's best to test on the minimum spec of machine you want it to run on and then also test on higher specced machines. That way you can see earlier if something doesn't work right on another config.

Good luck squashing bugs

Edit: just a quick note: it only seems to work on your config. The base A1200 config crashes the game somehow???
I did note the base config is slightly different from yours in the compatibility tab - but I don't know what those differences really change.

Yeah but is this a new version? How would I know? It had the same filename.
I'll get it again then.

sandruzzo: I tried your config and it gave me no graphics, only rasterbars. I clicked the mouse and it exited to a faild returncode 4756114.
I don't know what it is, it worked for a moment. Let me try again.
[edit] I'm stumped, no idea what is going on, all I get is this:

In the future, consider doing "install df0: " and adding a little startup sequence (cd rygar / executable) to your ADF. It's annoying not being able to boot straight into the game.

Yes, sandruzzo always just replaces the .ADF in that link.

There's no way to get previous versions...

I think I have found part of the problem: Sandruzzo's configuration has 64MB of Fastram. Disabling that (so the A1200 has just 2MB) makes the game crash on startup.

It seems the program runs out of memory somehow.

I just tried the new version on my A600, almost the same results obtained: game loads up a bunch of colors on screen like the picture, then switches to 60hz (?) then a black screen.
Disabling caches gave me only a black screen.
Previous version at least showed something.
