If i get a bunch of new ADFs (in this case BS1 collection), first i run a tool(DoubleKiller) to delete files, which are already in TOSEC, to prevent me from checking files which are already known.

Yes I got some help here in gothenburg.
I still do not have the time to fix it myself. My agenda is full with Astro- Particle- and Qauntumphysics and Archaeology and Geology. |

Very cool!
I see the "cleaned" versions pop up a bit randomly. (and apart from the cleanup get a nice zip treatment) Will the rest get the same treatment? The whole things reminds me of my own (much smaller) collection, that I wonder how good it survives. It is maybe 5-6 such racks and I know some are indeed unique (as they have my own startup intros etc.). |

About you and other people that have let's say a 1000 discs ... just image them before it's too late. It's not that hard. When we started this a lot of people asked me why "because everything is already in TOSEC". Well apparently not :-) |

People seem to magically forget where these disks come from.. Because others do the work.
The disks in TOSEC didn't appear out of thin air. Chances are, no matter how small your collection, you might have one or two files that are unique and not available on the internet. The number of missing demo disks, music disks, pack disks and intros/demo/mag packs/pd is staggering. When in doubt, image all disks and sort them out later. |

More like 2-3000 actually.
Now that I remember I made a few of my own multi-game disks (collections) that apart from few friends that got them, possibly are not in the wild. That said, about 15 years ago my parent's house phone rang (I was there by chance) and someone called me to ask if I still had anything to do with Amiga disk sharing. ![]() Because in those virgin times (20+ years ago), I even included my... own phone in disk boot text. ![]() ![]() ![]() Anyway, well I would like to do some ripping but I cannot afford a KryoFlux right now. Cannot afford the time either, but a KryoFlux would "push" me to find it. We'll see. Have plenty of 5.25" C64 stuff too (inc. some of my own utility collections a la "survival kit" of the time). Anyway. Keep up the good work guys. Eager to see it complete (and complete cleanup). |

I know.
What do you use? I don't think I can trust someone locally handling (or having the knowledge what to do with) my disks. |

If the disks are DOS disks like most/all cracked games, then a Kryoflux is not really needed but you can just use any Amiga with a good FDD and some imaging tool like TSgui. if there are some faulty sectors, then a raw kryoflux dump would be helpful in recovering those bad sectors. In that case, you could also use Kryoflux Free which is a software tool that runs on a plain Amiga without any special hardware. While it has some limitations compared to the full Kryoflux hardware solution, it should be able to cover most cases. Kryoflux Free is quite slow though, so no need to use it on disks that read just fine with the regular tools.

Well then we are back to KryoFlux.
My two remaining Amigas are in my closet, with no space to set them up. Also is the WAF. Setting up a retro computer to put disks one after the other and run some weirdly looking software (instead of helping kids with school or whatever), could lead to divorce. KryoFlux could be "hidden" under any other every day task. ![]() |

I use a Cumana external diskdrive with a fresh Sony mechanism from a pc that I modded for Amiga. I suppose you can use any external drive although some of them have no cable inside and the drive sits directly on a circuitboard. In that case you need an exact fit if you want to replace it with a fresh mechanism... but a cumana has a flatcable connection inside so more options.
