We want to collect orders in a manner that users actually have the chance to see if and when it's processed etc. Therefore I am currently setting up a webshop (fingers crossed it works out well). osCommerce will be used and we target using PayPal as the payment processor.
I am becoming dad (again) in November, so we must make sure this goes smooth and clean, so in case someone else needs to pick things up, all is documented in the orders etc. Clash of real life and hobby. |

I guess my main question at this point, is how sure are you that the HW is capable of writing it back? I'd hate to get the unit up and running, only to discover that HW changes (I'm not capable of making,) will be necessary after all. If you haven't worked with it at all to this point, I can see something unforseen popping up when the code is actually being written.
p.s. Does anyone know someone in Waco Texas that would be willing to do solder work at a reasonable rate? |

Thanks for the many wishes. It's all moving along nicely.
osCommerce setup is done, products are in the shop. Still need to add some minor stuff like additional cables and e.g. disk drives. Now we need to verify some things and test payment processing. Then... you're welcome to take a peek. |

Yeah, another nice alternative. Anyway, osCommerce just updated to the latest stable release, all working fine.
I'd say... we put it out in the wild in a week or two... |

That's the trouble with you people, always having babies at inopportune times, forgetting priorities like Kryoflux

We never expected things to happen like they did when we first looked into this. And for the record... It's about two years ago that I mailed Rich A. about "wouldn't it be cool to do a Cyclone on steroids with what is available today".
Since babies just happen, this will only cause a slight delay. Besides I talked to a trainee today. She can help with packing parcels... BTW for the record, since I just gelt the above might sound cold... I do love babies. They happen and they are the best things to happen in someone's life. Another alien format supported by KryoFlux. This one really is big cinema!
http://www.softpres.org/news:2010-10-10 About 26 years after the debut of the most popular sampler of the 1980s Softpres specialist István Fábián uncoveres the details of the disk format used by the Emulator II. Used by artists and bands like Jean-Michel Jarre, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Vangelis and Enigma, the very distinct sound of the machine became a common ingredient for many hit singles until the early 90s. One major reason for the unique character of the Emulator II was the compander mechanism used to overcome the quantization artifacts introduced by sampling in 8 bits depth only. Now, for the first time ever, and with the help of KryoFlux, it is possible to fully ingest and preserve the data present on disks written with this very unique device. The disk format produced by the Emulator II OS is completely - and possibly deliberately - incompatible with any other known standard disk controller hardware at various levels, including bitcell width, marks, gaps, data and CRC encoding. As such, generic PC floppy disk controllers can’t read or write Emulator II disks at all. To study the format generated by the machine, Softpres’ custom USB floppy controller KryoFlux and a standard 5.25” HD disk drive were used to create high definition stream files which were then further inspected with additional software tools developed by Softpres and by reverse-engineering and fully documenting the system ROM of the sampler device. Because of this, it’s not only possible to ingest disks, but also verify their contents and make sure that data stored is valid free of errors. This even works for data stored with third-party 3.5“ disk drives. KryoFlux stream files hold all the necessary flux transition information present on a disk’s surface to completely archive the original content if required and can always be used to verify the integrity of an Emulator II disk dumped, or re-create a sector dump. Now musicians and producers get a chance to recover their data directly from their disks and regain access to their unique sounds, made two decades ago. The disk format used by Emu II is not flexible, variable or protected; storing a sector dump is enough to reproduce a fully working Emulator II disk - as long as the sector dump is known to contain only sectors reported by KryoFlux as good. Alternatively, original disks can be stored and preserved using a Softpres IPF. Integrity checks and the separation of content and context make sure that disks preserved this way are bit for bit as good as the physical original they were created from. More details on the format itself will be available at http://www.softpres.org. KryoFlux will soon be available from the KryoFlux webstore, for further information see: http://www.kryoflux.com. More information on the Emulator II is available here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-mu_Emulator Last edited by mr.vince; 11 October 2010 at 17:55. |

Remind me to have a small talk to you about birds and bees my friend
The data storage of the Emulator II has to be deliberate in its design to stop copying. Speaking of Depeche Mode, there's a clip with Alan Wilder showing the synth off and right at the end of the clip you can hear one of the sounds from their track Blasphemous Rumours, last 10 seconds and its hard to hear. [ Show youtube player ] SPS has done a great deal of work, I was privvy to the communications between the parties involved and helped where I could ( which wasn't much ) If JMJ happens to call, tell him I want a signed copy of Music For Supermarkets |
