@magno
sorry about that... 44pin CF - IDE adapters generaly dont need 5volt power (as they get this from the 44pin connection of the ide), however the 40 pin CF- Adapters require a 4pin molex (either standard floppy or HD/CDROM )... and again use the 5volt line. (red one) sorry for not mentioning this earlier, bit of an over sight! |

@ZetrO
And I just started to write reply. Anyway just to add this: the difference between 40 and 44 pin cables/adapters is that this 4 extra pins are for 5V and GND. So 44 pin adapter gets power from motherboard (off course connected with 44 pin cable), and 40 pin adapter needs power from molex connector. Easiest way is to get 44 pin adapter and you don't have to worry about power than. |

Although the cf cards take minimal power, ive taken my direct from the main power inlet. Supplys dvdrom and cf cards and bypasses the m/board. as per Keropi's mod see http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=23887

Hi guys, been a long time since I posted to this thread but I have dusted off the amiga and bought a 1gb flash card.
Im going to try fitting the ide adaptor on top of the pcmcia slot but I might have trouble with finding decent screws/bolts So anyone who's gone ahead and done this mod already, can I see some pictures of how it looks? if possible |

Í've to use Quarterback Tools to make my 2GB CF card work.
After use HDToolsBox, the system didnt reconize the CF card. When i try to format it, i've the message "No disk in DH0". After 1 week, and some tries , i make it work using the Quarterback Tools 2.2. My 2GB Card Flash and my Dual CF/2 Compact Flash a IDE/ATA Adaptador: |

@Carlos Ace
Sounds interesting. The same error (no disk in DH0: while formatting) I got when trying to setup TakeMS 1Gb CF card. Now I'm very curious, I want to see if that card will work this way. Where can I find Quarterback Tools??? |

@Zetr0:
this is what it looks like: http://static.album.email.si/2/4/245...I5K4MSIlNm.jpg So... does anyone know what is this adapter (splitter) on my A1200 IDE port? It looks as it has one 44 pin and one 40 pin port. But it looks like one chip is missing? thanks |

I think your very close fc.studio.
but when I got to looking at it closer I do not believe it to be a splitter at all as both chains are connected. Its most likely a 40pin ide adapter with a 44 pin through, so you can have two devices such like a CDrom and hard disk.. It looks cute too it looks somewhat reminicent of them OLD version of them e-ide99 modules.. however i could be wrong, the best way to test this is to put two devices on each of the headers and run a demo version of idefix97, it should tell you what address each device is on... if it read 0 0 and 0 1 then its not a splitter, if however it reads 0 0 and 1 0 for each device then it is as fc.studio says, and unbuffered ide splitter. Now I've a buffered IDE splitter I bought from Vesalia with a CD drive included in an external metal case with PSU (Excellent, I recommend everyone).
It looks like the interface I had first. By IDEFix I could use my 2,5" 1,4 GB Hard Drive and my CD-Drive. I changed 'cause the buffered splitter seems to be safer for Amiga but mainly for the separete PSU coming in the pack. However it worked, a little slower, but it worked. Perhaps I put the old interface here in some place, or I gave it to a friend. However I'll check. |

@amigarobbo
Welcome to the EAB, i am sure you will like it here! Now amigarobbo thats some interesting hardware... it is a little expensive though. you can get a 4GB CF solution for arround £35 if you get new components from ebay.. IDE adapter 4GB CF card review these and you will see what what i mean. @A600 Heys thats a good question, to be honest i dont believe it will but i could be wrong... there is another way that is a smidge more expensive. PCMCIA CF Adapter SD / CF Converter hope it helps |

Wotcha. I've got the 2.5 HDD for my little A600, I'll see how that goes, and I may get what you suggest for my A4000, lots more room in the case for strange stuff in that one! |
