How I regret not having bought A600 in December, average price on internet auction sites here was about 40 EUR (Rom 37. 350 some with 2 mb upgrade) and this year the prices skyrocketed to 100 EUR or so for plain vanilla model :/

Why is the A600 so hated? Surley the CDTV was worse. Or even the A500+.
I was dissapointed at the A600 at the time purley because it wasnt a real step forward. But I always liked it compactness and amazing upgradability.

The cute A600 needs more love.

I'd have to reconsider and say the AmigaOne X1000 is the worst, due to its feeble bang-per-buck compared with contemporary machines. Or is that not a real Amiga?

I think the problem with this poll is perception.

I'm pretty sure I remember the A1200 being a bit of a disgraceful upgrade for its time and not selling a lot of units.

Although these days it's the romanticised model of current times so hardly anyone will put a vote against it.

I certainly remember seeing a lot more A500+'s back in the day.

None of my friends had an A500+, but some (4-5) an Amiga 1200. So i guess you can't generalise this.

btw: 6 votes for the Amiga 500? Ridiculous, in any way possible.

it was more or less the opposite here.

A500 or Plus or Atari ST520.

According to Wikipedia it has an article stating

"While Commodore never released any official sales figures, Commodore Frankfurt gave a figure of 95,000 Amiga 1200 systems sold in Germany."

I'm inclined to believe you and your friends were part of a niche group of Amiga elite.

The A1200 was indeed "special interest" at that time. Most of the mainstream Amiga folks moved to the PC or consoles, or they still used their A500s.

That doesn't include the later ESCOM machines. I have no clue how many A1200 they really sold.

The A1200 was in a bit of a catch-22 situation... most games companies were still writing stuff for OCS/ECS because that meant that everyone could play it, so that's where the biggest market was. No point in writing games no-one can run, and if there were no AGA games (except for a few OCS games with updated graphics) why would anyone bother to upgrade?

We all know that Amigas aren't just for games of course, but that's what most people I know used them for. People were either going over to consoles like the Megadrive, which was cheaper and had loads of good games, or to PCs, especially because of DOOM. And then people started focusing more on DOOM clones for the Amiga for which you really need an accelerator.

Now all this 3D stuff has turned out to be a fad and platform games are becoming popular again! Hooray!

It reminds me of many people who replaced their Miggies with PC, mainly because of DooM, Wolfenstein 3D, which were considered "sophisticated" and "next level gaming". Then years passed and those iconic FPPs became available to different devices including mp3 players, TI calculators, while it took some serious processing power to emulate Amiga games, especially Shadow Of The Beast, Lionheart and such. Not to mention how badly those 3D games aged, unlike cute 2D Amiga games, which still look nice today.

Wasn't A600 ahead of time to some extent? Hardly anyoned cared about the use of PCMCIA at the time. It was considered useless, lots of people dissed 2.5" its IDE controller...until 21st century came.

My Amiga was replaced with PC because there were less and less games, not because of Wolfenstein 3D or Doom. Last game played on my A500 was Pinball Fantasies.

Pinball Fantasies?! ... That had a follow on! You missed out lol. I think I moved on to PC as accessing games for PC became a lot easier than sourcing them for the Amiga - and cost was considerably more favourable for the PC.

Funny thing about the X1000 - I met the founders of XMOS this year and they still considered it "vaporware".

That company came out of the University I am studying at. Actually founded by a graduate doing the same course I'm on.

Same here. When my favorite games - adventures and RPGs - started to be better on the PC or no longer ported to the Amiga at all, I switched.

As to the worst Amiga model: CDTV!

The A500+ wasn't so bad - a friend of mine had one. You just had to install a kickstart switcher.

I think we can all agree now, without a doubt, that this is the worse Amiga model ever:

Conversely there are lots of people that consider audio the Amiga's biggest strength, based on a few threads on A.org lately.
