Terrible Fire Accelerators
Quote:
None of my boards will even boot (even the Alliance RAM) with this firmware. They guru immediately at the "insert disk" point after grey->grey->black->white. Tested at 33mhz w/kickstart 1.3. [Edit] Same behavior with Rev 2. Last edited by EzdineG; 29 July 2017 at 20:50. |

Regarding memtest in DiagROM.. I am thinking of a more advanced test.. but first I think I need to get other stuff working like testing ports, diskdrive etc.
(AND proper CPU detection... someday.. ![]() |

I confirm that TF530 boots fine with kickstart 1.3. This patch on Aminet claims to be able to add scsi.device to kickstart 1.3 for booting from IDE. I haven't tried it but it would be interesting to see if it works.

Hi all just wondering is there another firmware that I've missed for rev2, @50mhz as I could only see 60Mhz in the zip with all the different firmwares, so the only one I could find / see was the fast 50mhz beta.
@ Plasmab congratulations on 1000+ subscriber's and cd32 progress & a big thanks for everything! Oh BTW how good is setting a current limit on my power supply if I set it wrong ![]() |

There is nothing special to add scsi.device to kick 1.3. I would use Doobrey's romus and remus to make a custom kickstart. Mfilos has made nice guide to how to use them. That way is possible to add anything to kickstart. Like better filesystem etc. If you actually are going to use that Amiga, you will find out that kickstart 3.1 is just much better and useable. |

I flashed the lastest firmware into my grimmest looking TF530 Rev 3...
LIVE Soak test... [ Show youtube player ] All the details are in the description for the video. I will give it a few hours as i'm planning to go to the park with my son. Note that if your machine just hangs when you try to start this (inc diagrom) then check R1's value. I am using 1K. It failed without this resistor. https://www.dropbox.com/s/7m5xo9geao...tf530.zip?dl=0 In answer to the question about firmware ... this has been answered a few times in my videos. Use the closest higher freq firmware.. i.e. for 50Mhz use 60 (maybe even for 40Mhz too). if that doesnt work try the next lower one. Last edited by plasmab; 30 July 2017 at 12:10. |

I have finally narrowed down the IDE issues that I was having at the very beginning of my build. They only occur when I power the CF card adapter from the motherboard, by splitting the floppy power connector, and now I can reproduce it with ease.
It might have something to do with either the motherboard power or the old floppy drive drawing too much power. If I power the CF card adapter from an external source, all is fine. General question for all of you who built TF530s, how are you powering your CF card adapters? |
