A500+ with ACA500+ with Mediator for A1200 and Sonnet would be a pretty hilarious combination.

I'll try when received the new mediator 4000Di; I have here a BigRamPlus to test with it @grelbfarlk OK thanks about mediator 4000Di 3V MKIII and Rapture G4, Is It better a powersupply ATX 620W with 25A on +5V and 35A on +12V or a 500W with 48A on +5V and 16A on +12V ? |

Noticed I only saw one report of the Mediator with ACA-500 that it did not work over at ppa.pl. You should ask Jens if his ACA-500 supports Mediator, he loves these support requests!
https://www.ppa.pl/forum/amiga/31557...tx-blizzardppc Looks so easy I'm surprised everyone hasn't done this! |

Hmm, the physical problems of attaching the mediator are less severe with the ACA500+ (you can at least plug everything in) than the ACA500 although it is totally weird as the PCI slots are facing downwards.
But even with a bare 1200TX some of the functions seem to be inhibited (eg the Aux CF card is not found). And with a Voodoo 3 in the mediator I couldn't even get the ATX PSU to turn on, so some sort of power problem. I need to spend more time on this but the Falcon Heavy launch is getting my attention... |

I don't imagine this will work either but something else to try is one of those A500 sidecar to Zorro adapters to a Mediator Zorro->PCI bridge then to ... a PCI backplane or something, could use one of those PCI extension cables to lay the PCI backplane flat. Again, I don't think this will work.
Keep in mind the Voodoo is probably pulling a significant amount of power but if you're using A1200TX I imagine you have an ATX power supply powering the busboard. |

Having Mediator connected to A500 is crazy idea and even when you make it working from the software side then from the hardware point of view it will not be stable, you by mistake touch something, move accidentally, you risk hardware damage... LEGO style

Broken sonnet update. Friend ill re-ball the MPC107 chip. If that will not help, I got offer to buy TSI107 chip instead. Can you please check and tell me if this one can be used?

the chip on the sonnet is a xpc107 the mpc107 is ceramic like the mpc106
https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/reliabil...n/MPC107QI.pdf im guessing as long as you stay with rev 1.4 should be good if thats what the sonnet used im not 100% on the Rapture it uses both brown xpc107 by moto or green tsi107 so really any should work |

The chipset on the Sonnet identifies as 1.2 (0x12) and on the Rapture as 1.3 (0x13) through PCI RevisionID - See also

4.3 Migrating from 100 MHz to 133 MHz If the purpose of migrating to Rev 1.4 is to increase the processor/memory bus frequency from 100 MHz to 133 MHz, the system design must account for the electrical differences that Table 2 describes. Note that not all Rev 1.4 devices are rated for 133-MHz operation. In 133-MHz systems, use only those devices that are specifically rated for 133-MHz operation. Most, but not necessarily all, system designs should be re-laid out to operate properly at 133 MHz. Because the 133-MHz Rev 1.4 MPC107 requires 2.7 V DC supply voltages for the core, PLL, and DLL, the power supply of an existing Rev 1.3 design should be augmented to support the additional increased supply voltage. Follow the recommendations in the MPC107 Hardware Specifications and in the MPC107 design guide application note (AN1849/D) concerning memory timing. In general, for best signal integrity, keep trace lengths for SDRAM signals as short as possible and keep capacitive loads to a minimum (or use registered DIMMs that buffer the memory control signals). also the fixes in rev 1.4 are more for PPC7450 cpus not sure if any of that directly effects 750 i guess to play it safe use any rev 1.3 if thats whats on sonnet and make sure its the 100mhz part as some are 66mhz Last edited by nexus; 07 February 2018 at 22:02. |

IANAE but as I understand it, 1.4 is only for 133MHz systems. And like I said, the Sonnet I have says 1.2 for the MPC107. Plus the Sonnet is running on 66MHz.

no 1.4rev can be either 100 or 133mhz says so in that datasheet also forgot that sonnet was 66mhz makes me wonder if it can run at 100mhz
has anyone tried setting the 66mhz part at 100mhz? Last edited by nexus; 08 February 2018 at 08:13. |
