Aye. Pardon the hideous soldering, the parts are transplanted from another (similar behaving) board.

I'll check this board but that resistor was an option for terminating the clock if it was very ringy

This is the running board. There is even a butt load of corrosion on one of the ram chips where I spat on it in a previous video.

Have you tried with an FPU installed? I'm just looking at the differences now.

This is the only card I have without one, and it has been sitting here waiting for that Alliance RAM. It isn't part of any of my previous testing. In hindsight I should have replaced the RAM on an existing board instead to keep the tests sane.

That said, lookie here:

It could be the ram is too fast for the setup times. 10ns vs 12ns

I noticed that when I purchased them, but naively thought that would be a good thing. Out of four boards, this Alliance board is the only one that's stable. Though the Rev 2 behaved a little better, it also ultimately fails.

Either way, problem solved. It's a hell of a good start to a weekend!

And happy birthday, if it's actually your birthday!

I'll get some of that ram to see if I can reproduce. Just for differential analysis. You may have had a bad batch of ram

Did you try flashing them with a different speed firmware/or use different frequencies? I wonder if that could help the ISSI ram work. It's a shame not being able to use it considering how much cheaper it is.

And Happy Birthday plasmab!

The frequency stuff doesn't affect fast ram accesses. Its for crossing into the amiga clock 7mhz clock domain.

Also .. for anyone wanting the CD32 card

PCB Sources are opened up. Jed files to follow.

https://github.com/terriblefire/tf328

and for anyone who wants to get ahead of the game and order some PCBs

http://dirtypcbs.com/store/designer/...tf328-rev1-zip

I havent verified this but i have refactored out all my mistakes from rev 0. Cant be sure they'll work for sure but i've not had a complete failure to date.
