Wow, thats amazing.
And some of these designs are so simple too!. I wish people would take these things one step further and publish PCB designs with companies that will produce them and mail them out to you. So many more people would attempt the projects if they could just jump this first hard hurdle. But still a great set of projects. I could see so many more useful A500's in the world if they only had a hard drive and a Wlan option. Possibly the easiest way would be to add a USB connector for Wlan. .-.-. |

@vk4akp
the problem is my friend, is that the moment you add a USB controller you will need to seriously beef up the CPU, and at the moment the best reports of USB / Wifi is around twice the speed of the serial interface... Perhaps an actual LAN 10mbit lan port would be better, but still thats an over head... but much less than usb. but definitely food for thought... |

Yea, I must admit I'm very much behind the times when it comes to being in the know with these things.
I soo very much miss my teenage years where I was on teh cutting edge of Amiga Technology and loved every second of CBM, the AMiga and working for them. With todays internet addicted world and networking. A WLan solution and hard drive is such a big bonus towards making the old A500 so much more usable. It's a shame really. But I guess there are always A600's and A1200's. But I just can't help but want to be able to say get my old A1000 even on my Lan here with a Hard drive and start using it again!. ![]() Early 2008 I'm definatly going to budget for a CatWeasel MK4 and start archiving all my disks here b4 they won't read any more. It will also be handy for creating boot disks for other Retro Amiga people in teh area that come across old hardware. I even have an old Apple II clone here that I'm dieing to try a boot disk in and see if it still works. .-.-. |

Nothing plain about a 3.9 kickstart. I bet that you'd be hard pressed to find two diffrent persons making exactly the same 3.9 kickstart.
For example in the 3.9 i use solely with winuae i threw out pcmcia stuff and scsi crap to make room for other things and patches |

For my UAE OS3.9 kickstart I didnt get rid of anything. Just updated various bits to latest. in the case of the bigger workbench.lib, that works nicely from an extended rom

I did get the 1mb rom to work, both on my A500 and A1200, but on the A500 it's not very useful if you don't have 68030, and on my a1200 it created problems with blizzard MKIV maprom facility (it maps only 512K of it) so I said what the hell ... kept it in original size.

how do you add kingcon to the rom?
is it possible to boot to a kingcon shell when booting without s-s? |

See http://aminet.net/package/util/boot/RemAPollo for the patch to make KingCON ROMable, then just add it as a BlizKick module or use Remus to put it into your custom kickstart.
It will make all CON: windows into KingCON windows. My A3000T and 4000 both boot into a KingCON shell like this. :-) |

dooh... it was a jumpber on the adaptor... i've managed to burn roms now.
but they don't work. i get a black screen. here's what i have done: i've created a 1mb rom with remus, as two 512k roms. using the 1mb patch on the exec, and using the 1mb rom header as the first thing in the extended rom. after that i joined them with the join command. extended rom first, and then the normal rom, as doobrey have told me to do. and then i separated it (odd/even), and performed a byte swap, and burned it. my extended rom works when used as two separate files in uae btw. does anyone have a clue? has anyone burnt a 1mb rom for their a1200? this is obviously the wrong way to go. as it didn't work. |

OK, i've got it sorted now. Almost.
I've burnt a 1mb rom that almost boots, so the burner/process is in order now. I just need to remove some recent patches i added. |

Once you have a working image I wouldn't mind a copy to try here if possible.
I've got the True USB Willem programmer working now with the modified software that ignores the USB chip errors. The 16 Bit adaptor. And now I have 6x MX 27c4100DC-12 EPROMS. I'll probably test with an A500 first. BUt afterwards it's the A600HD that would be best updated. .-.-. |
